Yes, you want to take this tour. You will be amazed by all the beauty at the Murano glass factory! - Watching the Masters make beautiful glass artwork was amazing. I have a new appreciation for all things glass now. The staff at the factory and the shop were kind and helpful and Giovanni was an excellent guide!

Welcome to Fantasy Island - We arrive to the island of Murano from our hotel in Venice via a vintage boat. Upon arriving to the dock, we were welcomed by a man in a suit that help us off the boat greeted us and walk us into the factory. It felt like an episode of Fantasy Island. We then watched the glass blowers creating a beautiful glass aquarium. From there he took us to each floor of the showroom where you have the option of making a purchase that would be shipped home for you. These are the more one of a kind special and expensive pieces. You finish on the floor with the less pricey items and can make purchases here that you take with you. You are then escorted back to the boat where they offer you a complementary boat ride back to Venice St. Marks Square. This trip is the best way to know that you are purchasing authentic Murano glass.

Extraordinary craftsmen up close - Our experience turned out great, BUT we missed our original scheduled tour, because Trip Advisor did not explain that WE had to find our own transportation to Murano from the main island of Venice. The website does not make that clear. Once we got over to the island of Burano and found the glass factory, they included us in the next tour and it was fabulous. The glass workers were creating a custom sculpture that was extraordinary.

We really enjoyed the... - We really enjoyed the glass blowing presentation. Afterwards, we had the choice to make a bracelet, key chain etc out of glass beads or a mosaic. That was a neat little activity but I really thought, from the description, that we would be actually able to try the glass blowing. I am not sure if that was my misreading or something wasn't clear. Murano itself is run down and mostly vacant. We couldn't find any open shops or cafes in the time we had to explore.

Lovely - There is a free shuttle to Murano if you are staying at the Hilton Molino Stucky. It’s a really fun little trip and Murano is beautiful.

Good glass making demonstration but display sales area time was too long - The actual glassmaking demonstration was very good. The making of the personal glass tile was ok. The sales pitch during the visit to the display area was fair. I think the time left to look at the display sales area was too long it could have easily been 1 hour shorter

Not worth the money or time. It felt more like a sales presentation than an experience about glass blowing. - The boat ride was great. That's what gave the 3 stars. It felt more like a sales presentation than an experience about glass blowing. We got a 15 minute demonstration from one worker. Then we're moved to a craft room that felt like it was for elementary students. Made a mosaic art piece, 2 x 2 in size with tiny slivers of glass with 5 color choices. Then walked their display room for the rest of the experience. Ugh is about all I can say

Disappointed - Enjoyed seeing the master at work, but it was very quick. A little disappointed with the craft activities. It wasn't that unique. I felt that more time was spent in the showroom encouraging us to buy the work.

Tourist Trap - Let me start by saying that the actual glass blowing demonstration was super cool! The talent of the actual master giving the demonstration was fun to watch. Where the experience fell short in the rating was after the demonstration where we were walked through a showroom of extremely expensive blown glass pieces. I felt like we were given a hard sales pitch and since we were a small group of just our family, it was extremely uncomfortable. We had no intention of spending 50,000 euro on anything in their shop. They were beautiful but not realistic for most people just there for the experience. For the price of the tickets, it’s an expensive boat taxi ride to Murano. It would have been nice if they created a small piece as the demonstration that we would get to keep. They had us pick out colors and make choices on the vase l, only to just put it away and say it takes days to cool. They should make a smaller vase and mail it to you after the event for the price they charge for this activity. Yet, they seemed annoyed we weren’t spending thousands on their showroom pieces. Overall, it was a mixed experience.
