Fantastic Tour!! - Wonderful tour!! Alexandros is an expert on Alexander the Great and gave us a wonderful history on the area, Alexander the Great, Phillip, Macedonia, etc. He graciously answered all our questions. Definitely choose this tour so you can see the ancient theater where Phillip was killed and Alexander became king. It is a little bit of walking to get to that spot and Phillip’s palace but definitely worth it. Don’t just go to the tombs and miss the other sites! You won’t regret booking this tour!!

The Good The Bad And The Ugly - Our cruise ship docked at Thessaloniki, Greece. Our BMW driver picked us up at the port as scheduled and drove us to the first stop of three on our tour. It was a 45 minute drive which was surprising because there had been no mention of the driving distance online. The first stop was amazing! An underground museum of two ancient tombs that had been discovered on the very site where we were standing. The layout was well done, atmosphere was perfect and the artifacts and treasures beautifully displayed. The intact actual front facades of two tombs, one of which belongs to Alexander the Great's father, Philip II, were displayed exactly where and how they had been found. A very impressive museum. The second stop was a new above-ground museum containing many more artifacts, treasures and statuary. Again, everything was extremely well presented. The third stop was the Palace of Aigai. We arrived and found the driver could not open a gate on the road leading to the Palace. As a result, we were driven to another road and told we would have to walk the 600 meters uphill to get to the Palace. Our Guide promptly pulled an e-skateboard out of his vehicle and flew up the hill ahead of us. I started the walk but soon realized I was not in good enough shape to make the trek, so I waited at a cafe at the base of the hill for my three travelling companions to return. When they returned from the Palace, they reported that the walk turned out to be more like a kilometer all uphill. Once there, they found the Palace was actually a ruin with only a few columns still standing. It certainly wasn't as described online which stated, "The Palace of Aigai offers an unparalleled opportunity to step into the very halls where history was made." It also says, "journey will take you through the history, architecture, and significance of the Palace of Aigai, while also highlighting the incredible experience visitors will have as they walk through its colonnades, throne room, and ceremonial halls." Talk about misleading! My friends felt this part of the tour was a waste of time, particularly since it involved a kilometer climb up, a kilometer back down and a "palace" in complete ruins that was nothing like what had been described. They said that the information provided by our Guide at this site could easily have been imparted in the earlier stops at the museums. On a more positive note, our Guide was an actual Archaeologist who was extremely interesting and knowledgeable. His grasp of the history of the time was impressive. He did not, however, have any interest in engaging in any two-way conversation and never once asked in my presence if anyone had any questions. Overall, the first two-thirds of the tour was excellent. The final third, however, was misrepresented, unnecessary and very disappointing.

Very unprofessional - This “tour” started with our driver being 20 minutes late. He didn’t get out of car when he arrived, just flashed his lights. There was no Viator signs on car or on him. The BMW car was too small for 4 guests. Then we had to stop for gas. We didn’t realize he was not the tour guide- very little info. The actual guide was knowledgeable but rushed us through the tomb and museum and then he quickly left. All in all- it was very disappointing and I wouldn’t recommend this company at all!
