Constructed in the Romanesque style between the 11th and 14th centuries, its origins trace back to the 10th century. By the end of this era, Gothic enhancements were added. In the 17th century, a Renaissance palace was built, but the castle was subsequently abandoned. It has recently been fully restored and is now open to the public. (Outside Visit)

• Der Sessellift - Vianden boasts Luxembourg’s only cable car. The chairlift, completely renovated in 2006, transports visitors from the valley floor to an elevation of 440 meters. From this vantage point, one can enjoy a stunning view of the entire city, including the castle and the dam. The inn provides an opportunity to prepare for a potential hike up the mountainside or to take the chairlift back down to the valley. (Outside Visit)
