- Santuario della Madonna di Monte Berico - The Sanctuary of Monte Berico has its roots in two apparitions of the Madonna to Vincenza Pasini, who was delivering food to her husband working on the hill. The first apparition occurred on March 7, 1426, and the second on August 1, 1428. Our Lady promised to end the plague and requested a church be built in her honor at that location. Consequently, in 1428, within a few months, the first late Gothic church and a small cenoby were constructed to accommodate a religious community dedicated to welcoming pilgrims.
- Basilica Palladiana - The Basilica Palladiana, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994, stands as the emblem of Vicenza. It was the center of Vicenza’s political and economic life, originally appearing as a Gothic structure in medieval times, with a vast hall on the upper floor and bustling workshops on the ground floor. After the collapse of the 15th-century loggias designed by Tommaso Formenton, the City Council in the 16th century considered renovating the building. Renowned architects of the era, including Giulio Romano, Sebastiano Serlio, Jacopo Sansovino, and Michele Sanmicheli, were consulted. Despite these prestigious opinions, in March 1546, the Council approved the design of a relatively unknown local architect, Andrea Palladio, who was just thirty-eight years old at the time.
