The journey then proceeds to the Zambezi National Park gate for the payment of park fees. Following this, the drive continues to the launch site through the Zambezi National Park, lasting approximately one and a half hours, although the duration may vary depending on wildlife encounters along the way. Commonly sighted animals include waterbuck, buffalo, hippos, elephants, crocodiles, zebras, giraffes, bushbucks, and occasionally, cats, which are present in the area but less frequently seen. Upon reaching the launch site, guests are served tea, coffee, and a light breakfast. A safety briefing and demonstration on paddling an inflatable canoe are conducted. The canoeing adventure then begins, navigating through picturesque channels and rapids until a lunch break. After lunch, the group packs up and returns to town, arriving between 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM.

What distinguishes this canoeing safari is its ability to immerse participants in the heart of Africa’s wilderness, allowing them to experience it from the water itself. Unlike conventional wildlife tours where animals are observed from a vehicle or boat, this adventure places participants at river-level in a canoe, quietly navigating the Upper Zambezi’s channels above Victoria Falls. This serene mode of travel offers encounters with elephants drinking at the water’s edge, hippos surfacing nearby, crocodiles lounging on the banks, and a remarkable variety of birdlife, all with a level of intimacy and immersion that larger boats or safari jeeps cannot provide.
Many travelers describe the experience as a “once-in-a-lifetime journey,” highlighting how the slow, tranquil pace allows them to absorb the rhythms of nature, observe wildlife in peaceful coexistence, and enjoy riverside meals—moments often regarded as the highlights of their entire Victoria Falls trip. It offers a true African safari experience by canoe.
