White Water Rafting - Swimming Beneath the Spray of Victoria Falls & Navigating the Mighty Rapids of the Zambezi River

Victoria Falls - Visitors should arrive in Victoria Falls Village at least one day before the rafting adventure begins for a pre-departure briefing. This provides an opportunity to meet the raft guides, discuss the upcoming adventure, ask any last-minute questions, and collect essentials like dry bags and sleeping bags.

Day 1 Rafting

Guests should enjoy breakfast at their hotel before being picked up at 9 a.m. for transport to our office for check-in. The initial part of any rafting experience is a learning exercise, followed by Swimming Beneath the Spray of Victoria Falls. However, today offers no gradual build-up; this 28 km stretch on day one is the wildest section of the river covered during the 3-day trip, featuring numerous class 5 rapids. Some of the rapids on day one include Morning Glory, Stairway to Heaven, Land of the Giants, and The Devil’s Toilet Bowl. We will reach our beach campsite at rapid #21 around 4 p.m.

White Water Rafting - Another Thrilling Day on the Zambezi River with Big Rapids & Portaging Around Moemba Falls

Victoria Falls - As the sun lights up the towering walls above, guests awaken to the aroma of bacon and eggs cooking over the fire. With all equipment securely stowed for the journey downstream, and a long day ahead, we embark on a world of thrilling action and breathtaking scenery. It’s a busy evening with two portages around Moemba Falls. We arrive at the dam site around 4 p.m., where we will have the second portage and camp right by the falls.

White Water Rafting - Navigating the Towering Waves of Ghost Rider, the Largest Commercially Run Roller Coaster Wave

Victoria Falls - We will enjoy a leisurely morning, navigating the towering waves of Ghost Rider, the largest commercially run roller coaster wave train in the world. During the original exploratory trip on the Zambezi, one of the rafters chose not to run the rapid and pushed his empty boat into the current. The sight of the empty raft successfully navigating the rapid at twilight (after two others had flipped) inspired the name Ghost Rider. After conquering the Ghost Rider rapid, it will be time to open our cooler boxes filled with beers and start celebrating as we drift down smaller rapids. We reach camp around 4 p.m. after traveling approximately 20 km.

White Water Rafting - Drifting Past Fish Eagle’s Nests, Navigating Rapids Wave Train, Jay Bay (a Popular Surfing Spot)

Victoria Falls - There is no rush on this day. After breakfast, rigging the boats, and a late departure from camp, we paddle past a series of small rapids before tackling a more technical rapid named Asleep at the Wheel, and then drift into camp! After leaving camp, we drift past Fish Eagle’s nests, navigate rapids - Wave Train, Jay Bay (similar to Jeffrey’s Bay in South Africa - a popular surfing spot), Bismark’s Territory (home to a particularly large crocodile named Bismark!), and Smugglers Camp. This is the largest fisherman’s village encountered during the 6-day trip, and the villagers are happy to show us around, offering a glimpse into a remarkably simple lifestyle, free from the modern urban world we left behind days ago.

White Water Rafting - Our Rafts Drift Past River Islands, Havens for Egyptian Geese and Basking Crocs & Hippos

Victoria Falls - The river’s character changes significantly. Basalt rocks give way to grassy banks, and the grunts of vocal hippopotamuses echo across the water. Our rafts drift past islands in the river, havens for Egyptian Geese and basking crocodiles. After a few hours, we rendezvous with our vehicles near the Matetsi River mouth.

Hwange National Park - Guests will be transported to Sikumi Tree Lodge directly from their rafting trip.

Hwange National Park - Guests will embark on an early morning drive and enjoy breakfast.

Drive to Chobe Safari in Kasane after checking out.

The drive takes about 3 hours.

Kasane - Guests will check in at the Kwalape Safari Lodge and go for an evening drive.

Kasane - Full-day safari… guests will be picked up in the morning and return to the hotel around 5 p.m.

Kasane - Guests will embark on an early morning game drive. Pickup time is around 5:45 a.m. and drop-off around 9:30 a.m. Guests will have breakfast and check out.

Victoria Falls - Guests will be transported back to Victoria Falls and check in at the hotel.
