Canoeing in the upper Zambezi, just above the Victoria Falls, is an ideal activity for those who wish to observe the rich variety of birds and wildlife and indulge in the serenity, stillness, and splendor of the Zambezi River. The river spans a kilometer or more in some areas, boasting incredible transparency and dotted with numerous islands. The excursion begins with a pickup from your hotel or lodge around 7 am, and includes an early morning safari through the Zambezi National Park. Upon reaching the starting point, a continental breakfast is available and a safety rundown is provided by your canoe guide, including insights into river conditions and what to anticipate.
Photographs and videos are welcome, and the guides will ensure their protection in a waterproof bag during the splashier segments.
In these canoe journeys, guests are responsible for paddling their own canoes or kayaks, under the guidance of their experienced guide. You do not need to be a canoe professional and you will be given a life vest for safety.
