• Salzwelten Hallstatt - The Salzwelten in Hallstatt, the world’s oldest salt mine, is a must-visit. Salt has been extracted from the Salzberg for 7,000 years at an altitude of around 900 meters. The site is steeped in salt mining history. During the tour, visitors will learn about the ancient and modern methods of salt extraction. The mine slides and the illuminated underground salt lake are thrilling. The 350-meter ascent can be comfortably made via cable car. Each tour participant receives a “mining outfit.” With a guide, visitors hike into the tunnel, reaching the first highlight within minutes, where they can slide into the tunnel system like miners! For those who prefer not to slide, stairs are available. The tour includes “knowledge stations” with informative displays and light shows. At the tour’s conclusion, a miners’ train returns visitors to daylight, enriched by the experience.
• Hallstatt Skywalk - The Hallstatt Skywalk majestically overlooks Lake Hallstatt and is one of Austria’s most impressive viewing platforms.
