This art tour will explore the collections of one of the world’s most influential museums, highlighting selected works by Titian, Rubens, Raphael, Velázquez, and Bellini, as well as examining the beauty codes depicted in ancient Greek sculpture. This tour is perfect for those interested in the theme of human beauty and who wish to experience the collection in a unique and engaging manner.
Before the tour commences, participants will be offered tests to record their intuitive perceptions of beauty. Some of these tests are utilized by scientists to uncover the evolutionary assumptions of attractiveness. Following this, the tour will proceed through the collections of one of the world’s premier art museums to collectively examine images of goddesses and courtesans, historical figures, and mythical heroines.
Themes & Artworks:
• Titian’s “Diana and Calypso” will provide insight into the allure of the small foot.
• Tintoretto’s “Susanna in the Bath” will reveal the fundamental principle of attraction for flawless skin.

During this tour of the Kunsthistorisches Museum, participants will not only explore art masterpieces but also discuss whether female and male attractiveness is purely subjective or if our beauty ideals have an evolutionary foundation. Additionally, examples where fashion and the pursuit of status have significantly influenced perceptions of beauty will be examined.
