A great introduction to Vienna - This short tour was a fantastic introduction to Vienna! Our guide not only introduced us to delicious food but also shared fun and interesting historical facts along the way. We tasted four different types of Viennese cuisine and ended the tour with a delicious dessert. She took us to hidden local spots that added a lot of charm and authenticity to the experience. I give the tour a 5 out of 5!

An overview of the nine districts of Vienna, including the feast-for-the-eyes farmers markets. - Not only did we learn about and taste foods associated with Vienna, but we also learned fun facts about regular day-to-day Viennese life. You will not grow hungry on this tour! Our guide was fabulous and would substitute other foods if members of our group were allergic or had special diets, such as vegetarian. I would hardly recommend this tour

Great food, even better company! - We had an amazing walking tour in Vienna with Chiara and her adorable sidekick, Mr. Bojangles—truly the best plus one! Chiara was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging throughout the entire experience. As we explored the city, we learned so much about Vienna’s rich culture and history while also indulging in some seriously delicious local food. The tour felt personal, fun, and full of great conversation. We 100% recommend this experience to anyone visiting Vienna. And honestly, Mr. Bojangles made it even more special!

Great food and city tour in Vienna - Chiara was our guide. She also brought her dog Boji, who was a very good call guide. She was a very knowledgable guide, and the tour was very relaxed and enjoyable. We learned much about Vienna culture including their dog culture. We had wonderful food, including schnitzel, frankfurter, coffee, Kaiser Schumann, pretzel and goulash. These tours are always a wonderful way to get to know the city you are visiting, the food, history, and the ways of the people. I highly recommend The Do Eat Better tours and if you’re in Vienna and can request a specific guide, ask for Chiara.

Great foodie visit - Ana had some great stories to tell about the foods we were tasting and the areas we were walking through. SHe was very courteous and made sure we understood everything. We really enjoyed all the food (more than enough for a meal) Well worth the money

Feeling the need to clean our plates - Anna was our guide. She was very knowledgeable, very friendly and very pleasant to be around. The outing took about three hours. It was a very pleasant experience. If my husband and I were to have one complaint and it’s not really a complaint. There was a lot of food to be eaten along the way. It was way too much food for the two of us, and we felt somewhat obligated to eat the majority of it because we didn’t want to be wasteful. I would recommend maybe asking if you could share a plate rather than getting full meals. Anyway, we do it again in a heartbeat. It was fantastic.

Do not EAT before you go on the tour - Come Hungry and Curious – A Delicious (and Filling!) Food Tour in Vienna If there’s one tip you take from this review, let it be this: do NOT eat before this tour! By the end, we were absolutely stuffed—and happy about it. Our guide, Anna, was a delight—warm, friendly, and full of interesting insights about Vienna’s rich food history. She kept the pace lively and the conversation engaging throughout. 🥨 First Stop: Local Pastry Shop We started with a large pretzel—not the kind you’d expect if you’re from the U.S. It had a mild flavor, a bit different from the buttery, salty ones back home (and nope, no melted cheese in sight, but they have options that had cheese on the pretzel. But we were not given that option. On a scale of 1 to 5, we gave it a 3. Still, it was a nice intro to the local palate. 🌭 Second Stop: Wiener Schnitzel (Not What You Think) This is where you need to ditch your “hot dog” vocabulary—this is not a frankfurter! Locals take their Wiener Schnitzel seriously, and rightly so. Served without bread but with condiments, it was tasty and light. It was also the moment we realized: maybe breakfast before the tour wasn’t the best idea. 🍽️ Third Stop: Full Meal Time. Make that TWO. We hit a cozy local restaurant and were served two full entrées—yes, two! First came a hearty -goulash with potatoes-, followed by a thin, crispy -veal schnitzel-. Both dishes were flavorful and served in generous portions. If you're a fan of schnitzel done right, you’ll be thrilled (and very full). 🥞 Fourth Stop: Demel’s for the Pancake Next, we stopped at the famous Demel bakery to try the Kaiserschmarrn—a fluffy pancake-like dish (no syrup needed) however, it did come with a dipping sauce. Anna shared some fun theories about its origins—turns out no one knows the exact story, which made it even more intriguing! We ended up debating: Kaiserschmarrn or funnel cake? Funnel cake narrowly won in our group, but we all agreed this was a must-try dish in Vienna. 🍫 Bonus Round: The Chocolate Cake Showdown We went back (after the tour) to Demel's and tried the chocolate cake, which was... divisive. It looked delicious. I gave it a 1, my spouse gave it a 4. I found it similar to a flourless cake in the US. So maybe take my rating with a grain of salt—and a spoonful of whipped cream. Final Thoughts: This tour is -worth every bite-, and Anna’s guidance made it even better. Come hungry, come curious, and come ready to learn about Vienna through its flavors. Even if you don’t love every dish, the experience is unforgettable.

Full Meal tour that could use some tweaking - We went on the tour after several visits to Wien, to hear about history of the famed Viennese specialties. The history of the food, and the quality of the items was excellent. It was unusual in my experience that we had 2-entree’s served, back-to-back, at a single-stop (goulash and Wiener Schnitzel)—with so much food that we brought half home. In having done more than 10 different food tours previously, I have never had so much food served at a single stop—suggest half-portions, or 2-stops. The guide was well-informed and did well with our group (only 4-people came—on a rainy evening).
