Iconic Ferris wheel - Visited on Friday, 13th March 2026, located in Prater Park, and we arrived at the nearby underground station of Praterstern. The park is just over the road, and the Wiener Riesenrad 1897 Ferris Wheel is one of the first attractions within it. This Ferris wheel was featured in the UK C4 show Travelman and the film The Third Man (though only exterior shots). We purchased ride tickets direct but it wasn't straightforward, and tbh we might as well have purchased them on site as there wasn't an online discount and there was no queue when we arrived for our ride at about 10.30. There is an interesting area in advance of the ride itself, which uses small replicas of the carriages to display some models of the history of the city and the ride. Then there is an area where your photo is taken, and you can choose to purchase and then pick up upon completion of the ride. The ride itself provides a lovely view of the city and the park itself. There is space to walk around inside the carriages/cars, and maps to detail what it is you are viewing when looking outside the carriage windows. The ride is only approx. 10-15 mins in length, and there is a bench in each car if you want to sit. Quite expensive for what it is, but as a visitor to the city, it is in line with what you would expect to pay, but I can't see the attraction for a local tbh.

Beautiful view of Vienna from above - Nice scenic ride where you have the chance to see Vienna from the sides of the cabin. The tour is short and the ticket slightly expensive. For families with children there is a more affordable cumulative ticket (36 euros total). We bought the ticket at the entrance because it was low season and there was little queue.
The cabin compared to others (London Eye for example) shakes little and is more stable, also because the wheel is smaller.
When we went, it snowed so the view of the Prater and Vienna under the snow from above was impressive.

Really a must experience... - Really a must experience in Vienna! Although in all fairness purchasing tickets in advance did not enable us to skip the ticket line

Experience to try. - Climbing on this giant Ferris wheel you will have the opportunity to enjoy a splendid view and discover not only the Prater but Vienna from above.
If you have the opportunity I recommend to make the sunset ride to live a truly suggestive experience.
The ticket in my opinion is slightly expensive but definitely worth it (if you have the Vienna City Card a slight discount will be applied).
Experience recommended.

A Vienna classic between fun and history - Dear users, the Prater is a must-see for those visiting Vienna, especially if you want to experience an atmosphere different from the usual imperial palaces. The park is large, lively and suitable for all ages, with historic attractions that coexist with modern ones.
The real protagonist remains the famous Ferris Wheel: climbing on one of its cabins is a fascinating experience, made even more interesting by the opportunity to observe, before boarding, some models and installations that tell the story of the wheel and the city. A detail that enriches the visit and helps contextualize what you are about to see from above.
Once at the top, the view of Vienna is striking, especially at sunset, and offers a moment of calm despite the lively environment of the park. A pleasant and well-organized experience, even if a bit touristy.

Breathtaking views of Vienna: a must-see classic - Climbing the Wiener Riesenrad was a great experience overall. The tour has an adequate duration, is not too hasty and allows you to enjoy the view calmly. Once you reach the summit, you can enjoy spectacular views of the entire city, ideal for taking memorable photos.
The only sore point is the very long line at the base. A key tip: buy your ticket online in advance; it will allow you to skip the line at the box office and save a lot of time, making the experience much more enjoyable.

We had to queue up for tickets - We were able to redeem the tickets very well, but for them we had to queue as if we were going to buy the tickets (i.e. the queue you make it the same) because the machines did not read us the barcodes that Viator sent, so in the ticket box they had to print me 4 tickets to be able to pass. In short, THE TAIL WE DID NOT SPARE, we had to do it the same. Apart from that, all good.

Not worthy - Not a pleasant experience. There were not many people in line for the giant wheel so we entered alone in one cabin.
We were always stopping during the spin for long periods of time but we thought it would spin more than one time: wrong!
You pay 14,50€ per person for 1 spin and maximum of a couple minutes, completely not worthy

Could be a lot better - Receptionist at ticket desk rude and poorly trained
