Originating in the Himalayas, the river flows through China, Myanmar, Thailand, and Cambodia before reaching Vietnam, contributing to its murky waters. This region is crucial to Vietnam’s economy and diet, producing over half of the country’s rice and fish.
Life in the Mekong Delta is centered around water, featuring renowned floating markets and extensive agricultural industries. The area boasts an incredible diversity of fruits, flowers, and livestock. Known as Vietnam’s rice basket, the Mekong River Delta sustains millions. -
Vinh Trang Temple - Vinh Trang Temple, a prominent Buddhist temple, is situated near My Tho in the Mekong Delta region of southern Vietnam. It is among the most renowned temples in the area. The temple is set on a 2-hectare (4.9-acre) plot abundant with fruit trees in the village of My Hoa, within the town of My Phong, along the Bao Dinh canal.
In the mid-19th century, the temple was established through the efforts of district chief Bui Cong Dat, who organized its construction. He enlisted the monk Thich Tu Lam from Buu Lam Temple to oversee Vinh Trang. After Bui Cong Dat’s passing, Thich Hue Dang continued the construction, completing the temple in 1850.
