- Icelandic Mountain Guides by Icelandia - Mýrdalsjökull Base Camp - The tour begins base nearby the Mýrdalsjökull glacier in South Iceland. We start by going over the tour plan and safety instructions. From the base we cross some small rivers and head down to the black lava sands fields which derives from the dormant volcano Katla. Down by the black beach we stop and enjoy the amazing view up to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier and along the coast to the southernmost part of Iceland, the small peninsula Dyrhólaey. We then head along the coast to the famous aircraft wreck, from there we continue to the river Jökulsá and up to the foot of the mountain. Upon our return we follow the mountain back to the base.
The ATV experience itself lasts approximately 2 hours. You will ride 2 people per ATV, with one driving and one as a passenger. If you are traveling alone, or in an odd-numbered group (3, 5, 7 etc.) there is an additional charge payable locally for single riders.
The adventure will provide stunning photo opportunities in good weather, so don’t forget to bring your camera!
You will be provided with everything you need for a safe and comfortable ride. No ATV experience is required to take part and the skill level for this activity is deemed as ‘easy’.

The meeting point is located just off Road 222, also known as Mýrdalsjökull Road, near Vík in South Iceland.
Look for the Icelandic Mountain Guides Base Camp sign and parking area.

Fun for the family - The ATV tour was great! There are two writers per ATV unless you have an odd number party and then one person gets to ride by themselves. We stopped three times for breaks and for information sessions and to change drivers if you wanted to. The guides were very knowledgeable.

Off Road High Speed Adventure!! - Our guide Peterj (sp?) was the first native Icelandic guide we had on this trip and he knew the trails well! This was the upgrade Buggy/UTV tour that covered a lot of terrain including some fast moving water crossings. Even though it was in the pouring rain, that seemed to only make it more challenging and gave us miles of smiles throughout the tour and for hours after …for both me and my wife!

This tour took us more... - This tour took us more places than the black sands. Paul was our guide who showed us diverse terrain including the glacial outflow plains, the airplane crash, cliffs, fields, and streams. The guides tailor the experience to those who can drive faster and also for the inexperienced rider who wants to go slower. All gear and machines were clean and in excellent condition. Would recommend!!!

Unforgettable experience - This is a must visit trip in Iceland, it was very rainy so make sure you wear water proof gear but it was amazing

Amazing tour ! 11 from 10 ! Would absolutely do it again ! - The absolute coolest tour guide and an amazing trip through the landscape and beach. Short visit to the famous Justin Biber metal scrap.

Fantastic ATV experience to black sand beach - We had such an amazing ATV tour to black sand beach and the place crash. The scenery was incredibly picturesque. You will not get better views and being on the atv was a great way to take in the incredible landscape.
I also love that they gave us full outfits to keep us warm, clean, and safe. I get cold very easily so it was an added bonus to not have to worry about this!
The guides were nice and easy going. Didn’t talk too much, which I preferred. They offered to take our pictures, which was helpful and kind. Overall it was an incredible two hours and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

See the most of Iceland within 2 hours - Even with the rain, the scenery was absolutely stunning – like driving through a real-life fantasy. The buggies were fast, fun, and handled the terrain perfectly.
Huge shoutout to our guide Pawel – he made the whole experience unforgettable. Super professional, funny, and full of local insight. Would book again just for him!

Tour time changed and we didn’t get to go! - I booked this trip months in advance. Printed our tickets and showed up as directed. We sat in the parking lot for 30 minutes and no tour guides showed up. We called the CS number to find they changed the time of the tour over a month back. No phone call. No email. Super disappointed. We did get a full refund but quite disappointed to miss this opportunity. People plan their vacations months in advance. Even if I did get the memo, we would not have been able to make the new time. You should NOT be changing tour times on people.
