- Icelandic Mountain Guides by Icelandia - Mýrdalsjökull Base Camp - The tour begins base nearby the Mýrdalsjökull glacier in South Iceland. We start by going over the tour plan and safety instructions. From the base we cross some small rivers and head down to the black lava sands fields which derives from the dormant volcano Katla. Down by the black beach we stop and enjoy the amazing view up to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier and along the coast to the southernmost part of Iceland, the small peninsula Dyrhólaey. We then head along the coast to the famous aircraft wreck, from there we continue to the river Jökulsá and up to the foot of the mountain. Upon our return we follow the mountain back to the base.
The ATV experience itself lasts approximately 2 hours. You will ride 2 people per ATV, with one driving and one as a passenger. If you are traveling alone, or in an odd-numbered group (3, 5, 7 etc.) there is an additional charge payable locally for single riders.
The adventure will provide stunning photo opportunities in good weather, so don’t forget to bring your camera!
You will be provided with everything you need for a safe and comfortable ride. No ATV experience is required to take part and the skill level for this activity is deemed as ‘easy’.

Please be at our location 30 minutes before the start of the tour.
The meeting point is located just off Road 222, also known as Mýrdalsjökull Road, near Vík in South Iceland.
Look for the Icelandic Mountain Guides Base Camp sign and parking area.

An amazing journey through black sand - This was an amazing experience. We loved the tour through the Black Sand Beach and trail. Our guide, Sendri, was great and shared the history of the region, including the downed airplane, and the formation of the beach sand from the volcanic eruption. Couldn't have asked for a better guide.

The best guide in winter Iceland - Our trip turned out to be a truly unforgettable experience - largely thanks to our instructor, Pawel.
Despite the snowy weather and the fact that it was just the two of us with him that day, he created a genuinely special atmosphere. His professionalism, confidence, and attention to detail made the adventure not only safe but incredibly exciting.
The ride along the black sand beach was filled with energy, эмоциями и ощущением полной свободы. Pawel became our “ray of sunshine” on that cold day, turning a simple excursion into a memorable experience.
We truly consider him one of the best professionals and are grateful for the impressions that will stay with us for a long time.

Best!! - It was a great experience with Pavel. We rode quad bikes to the plane and to the black beach. We liked everything as much as possible, especially our guide Pavel. It's not the first time I've been riding these quad bikes, but the experience with this guide was the best!
