10/10 - Did this as part of an eight day tour - it’s a must do in Iceland. We got lucky with the weather and it was absolutely beautiful. troll provide all the kit so you have crampons, pick axe and a helmet and you can borrow hiking boots, too. Our guide Beda was great (even his cheesy jokes), felt so safe going up there with him. Will be back some day!!

Thanks Edgar and Natalia! - This was the highlight of my trip to Iceland. When can you say you hiked a glacier? My partner and I went to iceland in October when there was record snowfall- 18inches! We still managed to make the trek from Reykyavik to the meet up location (about 2.5 hour drive) and it was well worth it. The weather on the glacier itself was perfect, hardly windy and SUNNY. It look a little bit to get the trek started with donning the safety equipment, but once we got going, wit was amazing. Edgar and Natalia were amazing hosts- very patient with some of our less attentive compatriots but also very informative. And a pleasure to be around and talk with. I just hope they'll adopt a QR code / venmo for digital payments (still, it's obviously wholly, my fault I did not prepare cash for tips!). Best of luck to you Edgar and Natalia, I hope to see you again next year, maybe in the spring or fall!

Great experience! - I did the 3-hour Solheimajokull glacier hike with guide Anna. She was knowledgeable, gave clear instruction, was patient as we stopped for photos, and made the trip extremely enjoyable. What a thrill to be on an actual glacier. Troll was organized and efficient. Great experience.

Passionate tour guide - We took this glacier hike with Edgar on 30 September 2025. Fantastic experience! It’s my second time visiting Iceland in 9 years, and it struck me the glacier is so much further from the parking lot right now - the glacier used to be a 10 minutes walk from the parking lot but it took 20 minutes of walk on lava ashes before reaching the glacier. Simply demonstrated the effects of climate change and how much the glacier has retreated. Our guide Edgar is really enthusiastic and you can tell he loves his job. He shows us many geological formation on the glacier with tremendous excitement and looks out for our safety.

Do this tour! - Solheimajokull 3 hour glacier hike. This was an amazing hike. Our guide Eli was fantastic and made the trip safe and exciting. We hiked pretty far up on the glacier and saw how they measure the change in size of the glacier over the season. It was a bit harder to walk on the glacier than I thought even with the cramp-ons provided, but I would 100% recommend everyone take this tour.

Wonderful bucket list experience!! - Our guide, Lilly was AMAZING! She was energetic, fun and caring. She made the whole experience that much more enjoyable. She was great with the adults (my wife and I) as well as our children (8&11). In fact I think my 8 year old is now wanting to be an ice-climber. As far as the experience itself, it is a must do in Iceland. If you don't have it on your itinerary, don't leave Iceland without experiencing it!

Great tour guides/Terrible Company - My husband and I did this tour on 10/12/25 during our anniversary trip to Iceland. First off, our tour guide Miguel and our hiking experience were great! Miguel was very knowledgeable and friendly. We were given all the equipment we needed and Miguel made sure everything was put on properly. However, my experience when reaching out to the company regarding an issue was terrible! I booked this tour with Viator and received a confirmation email from Viator. No where in the tour information on the Viator website nor in my confirmation email did it state that we would have to pay a parking fee when we arrive at the meeting point. Also, at the meeting point there are ZERO signs stating that you have to pay for parking and the tour guides did not mention it. Upon returning my rental car, I was notified that I had not paid a parking fee during my glacier hike therefore I have to pay almost three times as much to the rental company because of this. When I reached out to Troll Expeditions I was initially told there is no parking fee at the meeting point, as parking is free for visitors joining the tour. When I shared that I received a parking ticket and can share the photo of the ticket with them, I then got a response from a different customer service representative from Troll Expeditions stating that they apologize for the confusion but parking is not included and if I had booked directly through their website instead of Viator then the information would have been given to me. When I explained the unreasonableness of not having this information because of who I booked with, I was then answered by a completely different customer representative that suggested I reach out to Viator for a refund on the parking ticket. I again replied to the representative and shared that the idea was absurd to ask Viator for a refund and that Trolls Expedition should instead be the one refunding me for the parking ticket and fee I had to pay to the car rental company because their posting on Viator failed to mention a parking fee at the meeting point and they have zero signs up to make customers aware. A fourth customer service representative replied to me and stated that they regret to inform me that they are unable to refund me because the parking area is managed by an external company named Parka and fees apply to all vehicles parked there regardless of whether the information was included in my booking or not. Now let me say that every popular tourist destination I visited in Iceland (like Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach and Skógafoss waterfalls) there were very BIG signs notifying visitors that they have to pay a parking fee. They even had a QR code on the sign to help visitors easily pay the parking fee. However, at the meeting point for this expedition there were zero signs! I walked around the entire grounds and never saw a sign. Needless to say, Trolls Expedition should have done the right thing and refunded me. I didn't try to skip out on paying a parking fee, instead I was blindsided and charged triple the amount because the Trolls Epedition company failed to disclose the information to it's custormers from Viator. Four different customer service representatives followed up with my issue and it was not resolved. Therefore, I do not recommend using this company. But, if you do book this glacier hike, keep in mind that you have to pay for parking! Maybe by downloading the Parka app, I really don't know how you would know that with zero signs to help guide you!
