• Estatua Do Marques de Pombal - The tour commences at a hotel or cruise port in Lisbon, where an individual guide will pick up the guests. The exciting journey begins here, heading north to Óbidos and Mafra.
• Obidos Village - Óbidos is a genuine fortified village, captured by D. Afonso Henriques, Portugal’s first king, on January 11th, 1148, marking the start of its Portuguese history. Visitors can explore the highlights of this medieval settlement, observe craftsmen at work, and sample Ginjinha and other local delicacies. A traditional ‘Medieval Market’ occurs in Óbidos every July. Note that there is an additional cost to participate in this festival, but it promises to be a rewarding experience.

For two weeks, the fortress and town are imbued with the spirit of medieval Europe. Streets are filled with entertainers and tradesmen in period costumes. Merchants, peasants, knights, jugglers, paupers, warriors, ladies, priests, and craftsmen, along with horses in colorful blankets, heraldic emblems, and banners, create a vibrant atmosphere reminiscent of the past.

• Obidos Village - Festival guests can purchase traditional handicrafts or enjoy various shows, including a costumed parade through the town, medieval musical performances, or armed knight tournaments.
• Palacio Nacional de Mafra - The tour concludes at the Mafra Palace, an impressive and grandiose structure built in the 18th century by order of King João V. The Mafra Palace is the largest baroque palace from the 18th century, comprising four buildings in one: the convent, the palace, a church, and a library.

Here, visitors will find the longest corridor ever constructed in a palace—over 230 meters long—with 1,200 rooms, 156 stairways, and 29 inner courtyards. The palace is constructed from local limestone and marble from Sintra and Pêro Pinheiro, covering an area of nearly 4 hectares. The library of Mafra Palace is one of Europe’s most remarkable, housing over 30,000 volumes from the 15th to the 18th century.

• Palacio Nacional de Mafra - The basilica, designed by German architect Johann Friedrich Ludwig, is flanked by two towers and occupies a central position in the ensemble. The grand king’s project began on November 17, 1717, and was realized thanks to the influx of gold from South America.
