Historic, Peaceful, and Unlike Anywhere Else in Colombia - I had an incredible experience on the Gran Colombia private tour to Villa de Leyva with Camilo! From start to finish, everything was seamless and enjoyable. Camilo’s knowledge of the region, history, and local culture truly brought the tour to life. He was friendly, attentive, and made sure every detail of the trip was perfect.
Villa de Leyva itself is stunning, and exploring it with Camilo made the experience even more special. He guided us through the charming streets, historical sites, and hidden gems that we might have missed on our own. I also appreciated how flexible he was, tailoring the tour to our interests and pace.
This tour exceeded all my expectations, and I can’t recommend it enough. If you want a personalized, informative, and genuinely enjoyable experience in Colombia, Camilo and Gran Colombia Tours are the way to go! Just know it’s a long day!

Excellent Excursion - This amazing private tour, led by Camilo, took us out of Bogota to explore many amazing sights. Camilo picked us up at our hotel at 6 am and he dropped us back off at almost 9 pm! We spent as much time as we wanted at each location.
We started with a breakfast stop at a wonderful country cafe. Our next stop was Villa de Leyva, a picturesque, charming village with many beautiful shops and restaurants, a museum, and an historic square. Camilo took us to enjoy the best dessert in Colombia there! We continued our adventure at the fossil museum, Pozos Azules, and the colorful town of Raquira, where we had a fantastic lunch at Camilo’s favorite restaurant. Camilo has endless energy and patience. He provided the perfect finale for our Bogota vacation.

Just what I was looking for, a place without modernity, that can breathe clean air, that I brought to life before so many buildings - The place is very nice, good food excellent 1000 leaves lots of tranquility, good weather, excellent guide just oo that judged

Into the Colombian Countryside. - We took the private Villa de Leyva Tour in early September on a beautiful day. Our driver and tour guide Camillo picked us up on time from our hotel. The drive to Villa de Leyva takes about 3.5 hours through different types of scenery so we stopped for a typical Colombian breakfast on the way. Our first tour stop was the bridge of Boyaca, place of the final battle for Colombias independence with monuments for Simon Bolivar and General Santander. Villa de Leyva is a beautiful colonial town with cobblestone streets and typical Spanish colonial architecture. It has the largest central Plaza in the Latin Americas. We also found an outstanding shop for all kinds of exotic chocolates. We skipped the Pozoles Azules and instead visited the Convento Santo Ecce Homo, a Dominican Monastery from the 16th century. Our last stop on the way back to Bogota was the artisan town of Raquira. If you are into Pottery this is the place to shop. Camillo made the long day and drive very informative and entertaining ,so time went by fast. An excellent guide. If you are looking for a tour of the Colombian countryside with history and a variety of scenery - this is the one.

Unbelievable Boyacá, everyone should do this trip! - This road trip is packed with breathtakingly beautiful scenery. Our guide and driver Camillo was a safe and capable driver and very knowledgeable guide, but more importantly a fabulous human being. On the way to Villa de Leyva I was showing symptoms of altitude sickness and the kindness and concern he displayed was very touching. He reworked the itinerary for us so that I could get to the hotel quickly to get some rest. I’m very grateful to him. The next day we saw the impressive and quirky Terracotta House, did some shopping in photogenic Ráquira and he brought us back to our hotel safe and sound! Thank you very much Camillo. Let’s do another road trip soon !

Disappointing - On the positive side, I would say Villa de Leyva and Raquira are good places to visit.
However I had the worst guide ever. Virtually mute. No conversation, hardly any information given about the places visited, even when I asked questions to try and get something I only got the briefest answers. Clearly didn't want to talk, whether he didn't want to talk to me, or was just grumpy I have no idea. After finishing his lunch he sat sideways on to me looking away, so rude. And seemed much more interested in his phone and vaping than the tour. Isn't the guide supposed to be your host???
And it was a long journey both ways, yet not one tiny piece of background information about the area, or Colombia, or anything......
In terms of tour content, it would have been nice to have longer at Villa de Leyva, and to have some free time there, maybe even lunch. The same applies to Raquira, I'd have liked some free time to wander round. As to the Pozos Azules, I didn't feel they added anything to the tour at all, and could easily be skipped and the time used at the more interesting places. And the palaeontology museum... ? never saw it, not mentioned at all. A bit off considering I paid for admission! To at least mention it and ask if I wanted to go would have been nice. Lunch was good, breakfast not, and location for breakfast was cold and bleak, and very noisy.
All in all, I feel ripped off. I paid a lot for this trip. It was not good value for money, at all. It was a very long day, I only had less than 1.5 hours in the main place Villa de Leyva. In all honesty if I had my time again I'd use the money to pay for a transfer there and back and an overnight hotel.
