The Battle of Long Tan - The Long Tan Nui Dat battlefield is renowned as the most significant battle fought by the Australian Army during the Vietnam War. This battle occurred in a rubber plantation. On August 18, 2016, a modest ceremony was held at the battle site; over 1,000 Australian veterans and their families traveled to Vietnam to join the 50th-anniversary commemoration.
The tour will commence with a departure to Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province by minivan. A local guide will lead you to the Long Tan Battlefield site, where you will visit the former 1st Australian Task Force at Nui Dat. - Nui Dat Hill - The first stop is Nui Dat SAS Hill, where you will see the helicopter landing and camping areas of soldiers and learn about the significant sites during the war. You will gain an overview of the 4 km perimeter of the Nui Dat base.
Next, the tour will proceed to the rubber forest and pass Mong Ngua Mountain, which served as a shelter for Vietnamese soldiers.
- The Battle of Long Tan - The journey continues to the Long Tan Cross Memorial to honor the Australian and Vietnamese soldiers who gave their lives during the war.
- Long Phuoc Tunnels - Then, visit the Long Phuoc Tunnels, dug by the Viet Minh and Viet Cong for combat and refuge. The Long Phuoc Tunnels mark the final stop in this half-day tour of the Long Tan Nui Dat battlefield.
- Ba Ria - The tour will return to Ba Ria for a late lunch at a local restaurant. The tour guide will suggest some local specialties, leaving the choice to you. After a brief rest, the tour will head back to Ho Chi Minh City.
