Begin your adventure from the historic harbor in Volendam on a stylish E-fatbike to discover several charming villages. Along the way, you’ll encounter a picturesque windmill, expansive meadows, numerous cows and sheep, and traverse the iconic Dutch dikes. At one point, you’ll ride atop the dike, offering views of the lake, ‘Gouwzee,’ where you can even take a dip. At another, you’ll cycle meters below sea level alongside the dike, gaining insight into how the Dutch live behind these protective barriers.

From Volendam, you have the option to choose or receive recommendations on which villages to explore with your E-fatbike. In just an hour, you can visit Edam, a town nearly 800 years old, located north of Volendam. Edam is renowned for its tranquil narrow alleys, quaint canals, charming house façades, and unique small boutiques. It’s also famous for its cheese market, where visitors can taste and purchase a variety of cheeses.

Another town, Monnickendam, is also accessible within an hour. Strolling or cycling through Monnickendam’s historic center feels like stepping back in time. The streets are lined with beautiful houses made of light bronze bricks. The old harbor, with its lovely ships and inviting terraces, is a must-see. A highlight in Monnickendam is the beer brewery, where you can observe the brewing process, sample homemade sausages, and relax on the delightful terrace by the water.

If you have more time, it’s highly recommended to tour from Volendam to Monnickendam and then to the former island of Marken. Marken is a picturesque town with charming bridges over small canals and delightful wooden façades. Accessible only by a 10-kilometer-long dike, Marken is surrounded by water, showcasing the Dutch expertise in living below sea level. From Marken, you can take a boat back to Volendam. The Volendam-Marken Express departs every 30 minutes from Marken to Volendam, and you can bring your E-fatbike on board for a small fee. After a 30-minute cruise, you’ll return to Volendam, where you can ride beneath the dike back to the rental company to return your E-fatbike.

If you wish to wear a helmet while biking, inform us, and we’ll get it ready for you. Our skilled team will guide you on operating your selected vehicle and allow you a trial ride to ensure you’re at ease with it and understand its operations. We offer a multitude of routes for self-exploration. Simply scan the provided code, and your chosen path will pop up in Googlemaps. (Ensure your maps are configured for biking rather than driving). Thousands have embarked on this journey, and we’ve managed to keep everyone safe so far. If you’d rather opt for a guided tour, we can facilitate that too. (Please note that requests for guides need to be made well in advance).

• Driving on an E-fatbike is allowed without being in the possession of a driving licence. You must be at least 1m55 tall to do so.
• When renting an E-fatbike a deposit of €50,- will be asked, which will be returned to you after giving back the (undamaged) E-fatbike
