• Lake Vouliagmeni - Lake Vouliagmeni, meaning “Sunken Lake,” is a small brackish-water lake nourished by subterranean currents flowing through Mount Hymettus, situated south of Vouliagmeni. The lagoon was formed approximately 2,000 years ago, originally a large cavern that collapsed due to an earthquake. The outline of the collapsed cavern roof is distinctly visible from afar.

The lake boasts unique environmental conditions: it is fed with warm seawater (28-35º Celsius) through an underground channel that extends through a network of submerged caves, maintaining a temperature that never falls below 18 °C (typically ranging between 21-24 °C). A freshwater spring reduces its salinity to brackish levels.
