Lawrence, they serve as a gateway to Wadi Rum’s tales, where history and legend converge under the desert sun.
-
Red Sand Dune - Al Ramal - Known as Al Ramal or Al Hasany in Arabic, the Red Sand Dune is one of Wadi Rum’s most renowned dunes. Its vibrant red hue is due to a high concentration of iron oxide in the sand. Though challenging to climb, the summit offers stunning panoramic views of the valley. This location is a key filming site for the famous Martian movie.
-
Lawrence’s House - Visit Lawrence’s House, a stone structure built on ancient Nabataean ruins of a water cistern. Legend has it that T.E. Lawrence stayed here during the Arab Revolt. Its weathered walls still echo with tales of rebellion, friendship, and desert nights.
-
Wadi Rum Protected Area - In the shadow of the desert rock, discover the art of preparing a traditional Bedouin meal. Enjoy a fresh, hearty lunch amidst the midday stillness, with endless desert vistas stretching before you. Later, explore ancient Nabatean inscriptions carved into Wadi Rum’s stone. The Nabateans, an Arab nomadic tribe who settled in Jordan and beyond (4th century BC – 106 AD), were master water engineers and skilled traders. For centuries, they navigated these vast lands by reading maps encrypted in the rocks, leaving behind messages that still speak to those who listen.
-
Um Frouth Rock Arch - Climb the Um Fruth Rock Bridge, one of Wadi Rum’s most iconic landmarks — a natural arch sculpted by wind and water over countless centuries. Rising about 15 meters above the desert floor, it feels like an elevated walkway between earth and sky, offering breathtaking views in every direction.
-
Mushroom Rock - Among Wadi Rum’s many unique and beautiful rock formations stands Mushroom Rock — a natural sculpture shaped by wind and time. Perched alone on a red rock plateau and surrounded by waves of crimson sand, it is one of the desert’s most photographed wonders.
-
Canyons of Um Ishrin - Wadi Rum - Explore Al Burrah Canyon, one of the most visited canyons weaving through Wadi Rum. This 5 km corridor of towering rock cuts deep into the mountains, offering space for hiking, camel trekking, climbing, or simply resting in the cool shade. Here, in the desert’s hidden heartland, the air feels still and time moves differently.
