Great Lesson in History - Great self-guided tour! Enjoyed the set-up. Wish the there was a little more time to view everything before hopping back on the bus to leave town.

Beautiful place with a first person point of view of an enslaved person - Whitney Plantation is unique in its point of view only being from an enslaved person point of view. We did the self guided tour using their handheld devices. The devices were easy to use and the how they told the stories was well thought out. Though I’m more of a person who likes person guided tours, the self guided was still very impactful.

Excellent trip to Whitney Plantation ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Excellent trip to the Whitney Plantation. I am reviewing 2nd Line and not the plantation tour, which is worthwhile and very powerful. This is an easy way to get to the plantation. The hotel pickup and drop off is a plus. Our driver, Chris, was very professional and on time. I appreciated that he called me just before 8am to let me know that, as the last pickup, I would be picked up around 8:25 am (so I would not be waiting around for 25 min). The drive is around 45 min each way and our departure time of 11:15am was enough for me to see everything that I wanted to.

The Whitney is a plantation tour like no other! - I am so glad I finally had the opportunity to visit the Whitney. I appreciate their efforts to tell visitors about plantation life from the perspective of enslaved people, which is something I’ve never seen done before. Ms. Cheryl, my guide, is a treasure who made the experience even more special.

Take time to absorb the details, not just the headlines… - Really powerful look at how these plantations lived and breathed and an often forgotten truth to the whole timeline of the slave trade and who stopped it. This place is a great visit for all of the family, just make sure you give yourself enough time on the self guided tour to read all the internal posters and reflect on what they say!!! Also look out for Candy Land, ‘Big Daddy’s’ House on the way out from Django Unchained film.
