- Pelican Point - Our tour begins in Swakopmund, with pickups available in Walvis Bay as well. We make a stop at the Flamingos to admire the many beautiful birds at the lagoon, including possible sightings of pelicans and terns. The route takes us past the pink salt lakes of the expansive Salt Mine, where we learn about its operations. We then head north to Pelican Point Lighthouse, home to a colony of 50,000 seals. Here, we find a suitable spot to unload the kayaks and paddle into the bay. The seals swim around the kayaks, making for an incredible experience. Afterward, we serve cool drinks and sandwiches. Once finished, everyone helps load the kayaks, and we leisurely return to Swakopmund.

Our fleet consists of new, modern, unsinkable kayaks that are user-friendly and designed not to capsize. Each participant is provided with a life jacket, and the guide will offer instruction on how to use the kayak. No prior experience is necessary.
This activity is a must for the active traveler. If a group wishes to kayak at a different location, please contact us to explore the possibilities.

- Please note German guides are limited and we do not have the capacity to give everyone a German guide, These will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. Please note we can not guarantee a German guide on every tour!!
- please note all Cruise Liner passengers, your tour pick up time starts an hour after you have docked. The tour will depart latest an hour and a half after the pick up time. Late comers are considered a no show

Best experience! - We had a great time!
Our guide Volker told us a lot about the area and the wildlife and he took good care of us.
While kayaking we were so lucky and also spottet wales right in front of us.

Unforgettable - We did the full excursion. Apart from the flamingos, some pelican, the pink salt flats... the really special thing in the morning is the kayaking outing between sea lions, which play with you and allows you to shoot videos and photos at your discretion. It is quite cold and you have to wear your shoes, wear comfortable, warm and waterproof clothes (although they lend jackets and pants, they are wet). Even skiing gloves if you are cold, but then you can not manipulate the mobile or camera. Then they give you enough breakfast. And in the afternoon comes the adrenaline, our monitor was a madman enjoying driving through the dunes with his Toyota Land Cruiser and we had a bombshell. It stopped at a multitude of sites so we could enjoy the views, which are breathtaking. He constantly gave us information, rating that his profession lives and transmits it. This is better than any amusement park. In the end he served us a complete lunch in the same place. Inolvidable. Highly recommended.

Exceptionally great experience! - Kayaking with the seals was an exceptionally beautiful experience for us. The seals were very interested in our kayaks and therefore constantly swam around us. Our guide Michael was very nice and accommodating. We felt completely comfortable. The activity was a real highlight on our trip.

Seal Kayaking with Volker - The Seal Kayak Tour with Volker was an unforgettable experience. His respectful and empathetic treatment of the animals impressed us deeply. Volker not only guided us safely through the experience, but also imparted a lot of knowledge about the seals and their surroundings. His calm and empathetic nature made the tour very special. You can feel that he cares about the welfare of the animals. That touched us a lot. A clear recommendation for anyone looking for a natural and respectful animal experience!

Seals up close - We kayaked in the middle of the seal colony. I can't believe we got so close to the seals and they were so curious about us and wanted to play with our paddles all the time

Second best wildlife experience ever! - If you are staying in Swakopmund this company is a no brainer with free pickup and cancellation. It was an amazing experience with the young seals and Volker our driver and kayak guide was brilliant. .
Paddling with seals is a memory for life!

Fun kayaking tour with the seal. - The Desert Dunes and dust tour company was incredible. They we were super accommodating for the cruise passengers. The country of Namibia implemented a visa requirement for visitor on April 1, 2025, which was confusing for the Norwegian Cruise line. It took us a long time to disembark from the ship and Volka who was our guide waited patiently for us. Volka was friendly and professional. He was very knowledgeable about the area. The kayaking with the seals was amazing. It was once in a life time experience which I highly recommend.

You should do this. - We were met exactly on time at Walvis Bay cruise terminal by Volker our guide.
The whole tour was seamless and the experience with the seals simply amazing.
We were a group of 4 people off the ship and over 100 days into a World Cruise, each of us agreed this was one of the most unforgettable experiences of the whole trip.
Several additional side stops to explain and see other natural wonders and overall an incredible 5 hours.
Thanks so much to Volker…….excellent job and we are all so grateful.

Had a great experience... - Had a great experience and the tour operator was so flexible and understanding. Our tour was booked for the 26th March, but a technical issue made our ship a day late arriving on the 27th March. They moved our booking enabling us to enjoy the fantastic tour. We were not expecting to see so many seals and wildlife but our guide Stephan went out his way to maximise our experience and day.

Wonderful 1/2 day tour. Highly recommend it! Stephan was a great guide - Our guide, Stephan, was on time, very informative, and professional. You don’t need to know much about kayaking to take this tour. We had a wonderful time with him. There was only one other couple with us so it was not a huge gang of people. We highly recommend it.
