Must do activity - The guide was very informative and funny. We learnt a lot and spotted a few animals. The drive on the dunes was a fun brought out an inner child in us.

Great fun. - It was extreme experience and great fun.
Our guide, Obie(?), was an one of the best driver and had a knowledge of sand dune.
We experience two flat tyres and one rescue another vehicle.
But came back safely on time.
Highly recommend. 🤣

A memorable trip - My Sandwich Harbour half day excursion started early morning at Sandwich Dune Tours & Safari office, with warm greetings from Ester at reception and Denis our tour guide. Truly this was one of best experiences of my life. The breath taking landscapes of Namib Desert, the symphony of the ocean waves and the crisp clean morning breeze was just exquisite. Not to mention the excellent and professional service delivery from the tour guide. All in all, a memorable trip, a must.

Perfect half day experience - Amazing experience for my mother who did a last minute booking as a solo traveller and joined a tour. As a non-native English speaker, she was a bit worries at first but the guide Dennis made her feel welcome immediately and she enjoyed the whole trip. Pick up and drop off at the hotel in Swakopmund was very comvenient as well.

Sensations guaranteed - Sandwich harbor activity, 4×4 rodeo on Harbor sandwich dunes. Activity we added not foreseen in the original program and which cost us 500 € for 4.
Our driver's name is Christian and he's an Afrikaner.
We are a convoy of 7 vehicles with plenty of tourists.
We make a first stop to see the flamingos. Then the salt marsh basins and that pink water.
We then drive on the sand, first on the beach, then on small dunes, then medium and finally large ones.
It's like doing the Paris Dakar! Very impressive when the drivers take straight on steep descents!
Arriving at the Sandwich Harbor site which is a very high dune falling to the sea, we stop for a photo shoot.
On the way back, we stop in a toilet and the drivers set up tables for a picnic in the dunes.
Unmissable activity not to be missed. We left at 1pm for a return at 6pm

Sandwich Harbour & Dunes - My friends & I enjoyed this scenic & fun experience. The lunch, with bubbles, was very nice. The drivers are very professional & experienced. The return trip through the dunes is quite thrilling.
To note for future people booking the afternoon trip, is that the "lunch" isn't until about 3:30pm. Also check on tide times, because at near high tide, the vehicles can't get all the way along the beach and the tour stops short of Sandwich Harbour.
The other important thing to note is the seating arrangement of thier Toyota Fortunars. They carry up to 7 passengers. The primo seat is up front, next to the driver. Obviously, you have way better views & photo opportunities here. The next best are the outside seats in the next row, where you're by a large window that opens. If you're in the back row or middle seat of 2nd row, your experience isn't as good (if I'd been seated here for whole time my rating would have been 2-3). You & your companions need to set up a roster to take turns & swap around at stops.

Nice experience but they do not live up to what they promise. - The tour was a nice experience. The guide and driver was a nice guy. He did his outermost best to make it a nice experience. Driving to the best viewpoints, gives us enough time to make pictures and looking for wildlife along the way.
So why then only an average rating? They promise on their website and by the confirmation of the tours that fresh oysters and champagne is included within the trip. However, they were not offered. After the trip, we went to the office and they told us that there are none. Even when we told them that we saw that others tours offered it to their guests, they told us it is because they had a stock while theirselves were out of stock. That can happen, but then you have to communicate this and also give a refund or reduction on the tour price. The women at the office called the owner to ask if she could do this, but it was refused by the owner.
So, after all it was a nice experience but live up to what you promise.

Reckless Driving - Unfortunately, my experience was apparently different, very different from most others, and although I don't like to give bad reviews, I'm making an exception here for the following reason (which in my opinion merits one star):
Our driver was driving (I looked at the speedometer) at over 110 km/h on wet sand, which is completely reckless, possibly - but this is speculation on my part - because we were running late (we were supposed to be at the office at 7:40 a.m., but it didn't open until 8:30 a.m.) and had to arrive at Sandwich Harbour in time for low tide.
No one in the vehicle felt safe, and in my opinion, he almost caused the vehicle to tip over at one point, or maybe he just wanted to scare us in a dangerous prank. I had to yell at him to slow down shouting there were (our) kids on board and I was serious. Either way, it's not acceptable or professional behavior. I signed up for a Namib desert tour and not Paris-Dakar. The other driver, who drove as fast as our driver, only wore flip-flop sandals while driving, again not something that inspires confidence.
Just to add (pre-empting comments that I might be too timid): As an avid downhill mountain biker and freeride skier, with the accidents and injuries to match, I'm not easily scared especially not by speed.
In addition, but for this I would not have bothered to write a review, 15 years ago, my wife and I took a similar tour (without children at the time) from Swakopmund to Sandwich Harbour, where we had a professional wildlife guide who told us a lot about the wildlife in the Namib and showed and described various animals and plants to us. There was nothing comparable here. There were hardly any explanations, just more or less standard phrases.
