• Huaxi Street Night Market - Our journey begins at the beautiful Lungshan Temple, where the incense of countless prayers mingles with the lively Huaxi Street Night Market. We’re on the hunt for a Michelin-rated dish of lǔ ròu fàn braised pork rice - a comforting bowl that has been a staple in this neighborhood for generations.

This small island boasts a big appetite, with over 15 tastings along the way. We’ll savor Taiwanese Scallion Pancake, crispy and flaky from the oil, and the famous gua bao “Taiwanese Hamburger” - a soft steamed bun filled with tender braised pork belly.

• Guangzhou Street Night Market - Next, we venture into Guangzhou Street Night Market, a haven of traditional street food stalls, to enjoy fish tempura and the irresistibly crunchy dì guā qiú sweet potato balls. We’ll pass by Fortune Teller Alley, where futures are foretold through cards and birds, before refreshing our palates in Herb Alley - a green corridor serving as the city’s herbal apothecary.
• Ximending - Then, experience a true Taipei tradition. No visit is complete without trying chòu dòufu (stinky tofu), a bold, fermented delight for the adventurous. We’ll cleanse our palates with a warm bowl of smooth miàn xiàn flour-rice noodles.

As the night progresses, we delve deeper into Ximending, Taipei’s neon-lit counterpart to Shibuya. Navigate past the tattoo parlors of Tattoo Street to the retro-cool Wan Nian Building. Inside this vintage 1970s cultural hub, we head to the basement for a standout dish: pái gǔ fàn pork chop rice - crispy, spiced, and unapologetically delicious.
