Excellent LOTR Tour! - Great experience! The guide was fantastic, providing the right level of information to keep the tour interesting and blending facts with anecdotes. The WETA workshop was very interesting and the location stops were brilliant - in particular Rivendell & the Mt Victoria forest locations. Lunch was very good quality too. Thoroughly recommend the whole tour!

We had an amazing time on... - We had an amazing time on our LOTR tour! Our tour guide James was awesome and very knowledgeable. The movie photo flip charts were a great way to envision the scenes as we saw the specific landscapes. James had lots of great inside stories about the actors, crew and filming. We're huge LOTR fans so this was a trip highlight! Chewy was the guide who did the hotel pickup/drop offs and he was great too! In my excitement I accidentally left my phone in the van at the end of the tour. I phoned Chewy and he was able to arrange having it dropped off at our hotel first thing the next morning before we left Wellington - outstanding service! Thanks guys for an amazing day, highly recommend! Dave, Kari, Lucas and Eli Avery

An Unforgettable Journey into Middle-earth! ★★★★★ - If you’re a Lord of the Rings fan, Wellington’s Original LOTR Tour—including Wētā Workshop—is an absolute must! This tour is the perfect mix of stunning filming locations, behind-the-scenes magic, and fascinating insights into how these iconic films were brought to life. Our guide “Gina” was incredible—knowledgeable, passionate, and full of fun stories about the cast, crew, and filming process. Walking through lush forests and standing where legendary scenes were filmed made us feel like we were part of Middle-earth. The visit to Wētā Workshop was a definite highlight including our guide “Taylor” —seeing the craftsmanship behind the props, weapons, and creatures up close was mind-blowing. The entire experience was well-organised, engaging, and filled with unforgettable moments. Whether you’re a hardcore Tolkien fan or just love movie magic, this tour is a must-do in Wellington. Highly recommend!

Dixie did a fantastic job... - Dixie did a fantastic job as both driver AND super-knowledgeable tour guide! I would highly recommend this tour for LOTR fans - you’ll learn a lot about the overall film making process too.

"Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost" - Pros: Great fun wandering around Wellington visiting various LOTR film sites. Our tour guide Hamish, was great----sharing insights, trivia, and stories about filming LOTR. Highlights--Rivendell, Mt. Victoria, and of course Weta Workshop. We went on a short bonus nature walk. This was not connected to LOTR but still wonderful. Lunch was included; it was very tasty (although the vegan plate looked extremely delicious-especially the fruit salad--maybe have the fruit salad an option for everyone?). Con: Most of the time given for Weta Cave was spent waiting in line for the bathroom. This was a shame because there were bathrooms with no lines at the next stop--Weta Workshop. All told--this was a great tour, and I highly recommend it!

Fantastic trip - get your money's worth for sure! - Incredible trip in and around Wellington. We really felt we got our money's worth out of this all day trip. Our guide Marc worked on the trilogy and was able to talk about the experience along with showing us photos of himself in the films. It really gave the trip an extra special feel. For all LotR/Tolkien fans, it's a must do in my opinion. Fantastic.

This was the best tour... - This was the best tour I've been on so far in New Zealand! Our guide, Andrew, was amazing and full of funny and interesting stories about the filming of Lord of the Rings. Getting to see all the filming locations around Wellington was great but it was made an absolutely unforgettable experience by having such a great guide. The lunch was delicious too. Run, don't walk, and book this tour today! It's a do not miss! Actually, don't worry about running, they will pick you up and drop you back off. Five stars all the way around!
