Coney Wines - Gourmet lunch stop with 7 wine tastings. Meet the winemaker Lisa Coney at Coney Wines and experience Alsace-style wines and a 2024 Pinot Noir from the award-winning soils of the Te Muna Valley. Sample menu items on the locally sourced shared food board:

• Beef cheeks slow-cooked until fall-apart tender, often braised in red wine for deep flavor
• Lamb rump, herb-marinated lamb rump with accompaniments like smoked labneh, mint/watercress sauce, and local wine drizzles
• Beetroot, spinach, and walnut salad with artisan bread
• “Kentucky Fried Cauliflower (KFC)” served with hot Manuka honey drizzle and possibly with roasted brassicas (like cauliflower/broccoli) with goat cheese and almonds on their seasonal menus

• 2021 - Martinborough - The town square is shaped like the Union Jack, as the town was the creation of John Martin, an Irish Royalist who crafted New Zealand’s first private town.
John’s wife was an Alsace native and planted her indigenous grape varieties such as Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Gewurztraminer, which are commonly found there today.
