What are the best tours on an island we’ve had in a long time - We came up a cruise ship and booked this directly with TripAdvisor. I’m so glad that we did! We spent more than eight hours with Fred as our guide. He was absolute fantastic! Super nice, very helpful and stayed close to us the entire time. His English is also excellent and he recommended a local restaurant that we really enjoyed. From the port, we went direct to a small animal sanctuary, where we spent time with macaws, white face monkirs and the star of the show, the Sloths! It was the highlight of our whole trip! They were several Sloths there, but the cutest was a little four month old baby Sloth. The law has changed so you can no longer handle them, but you can get very close and take really fantastic pictures while they munch away on their Trumpet leaves From there, we spent a couple of hours at West Bay Beach at the Henry Morgan Resort, which was really spectacular. One of the nicest beaches we’ve been to in a while. The water was super clear, and the sand was powdery white… There were a lot of vendors trying to sell T-shirts and jewelry and such, but none of them were really offensive at all. In fact, we had a good time chatting with several of them. Even though the beach was full, you never really felt crowded. We then went on a one hour snorkeling trip where we saw lots of beautiful coral and tropical fish. The waters are unbelievably clear… All the way down to about 60 feet to the bottom. Our guide Bryan was also fantastic. We saw lots of tiger fish, two gigantic angelfish, some barracuda, and lots of brightly colored tropical fish. When we got back, we rented the jet ski for about 30 minutes… And that was such a blast! Make sure you bring cash, as we didn’t have enough of the jet ski, and we ended up having to change our money from a credit card where they added 10% I highly recommend booking this tour

Amazing experience! - We booked this last minute from TripAdvisor and I can say we were not disappointed. Everyone at the port helped us to find our tour. Samantha picked us up at the port with Tuscan adventures. We went to the animal park where we saw sloths, monkeys and parrots and Brandon out guide there was amazing. He took a lot of great pictures of us. We then went to a chocolate factory and a rum company that was interesting. We went to Bay beach checked in to a resort area got our chairs by the beautiful beach. Samantha stayed near the entire day making sure we were doing good. We went out to snorkel where Brian took us around the reef making sure we got to see many beautiful fish. We spent the rest of the day at the beach enjoying drinks and something to eat. It was the best part of our vacation. Samantha then took us back to the port. Thank you for an amazing day!

Best tour guide - This was our first cruise and also first excursion we booked that was not with the cruise line. We would recommend this tour 100/10. Allan our tour guide was very informative and also very patient. We traveled with our two grandparents and he was very accommodating and also very cautious with them. Thank you Allan for making this day one of the best!

Wonderful day! - Brian was the best! He was very personable and easy to talk to. He was very knowledgeable about the island and gave lots of helpful information! We loved the eco park! It was very clean and the guides were super friendly! We loved interacting with the animals. Our snorkeling adventure at the resort was also a lot of fun! The boat was smaller than expected but the crew was friendly and made it fun for all! We had fun in the pool and enjoyed our day, despite the rain!

Best day ever - Alan was an excellent and patient driver. It was a little chaotic finding the tour company when we left the port, but we felt safe after and throughout our trip. The animal park was fun and the snorkeling was incredible. We ended with an incredible Caribbean lunch. Overall a five star day.

What a fun and exotic island! - We had a wonderful day with our tour guide Jamie! She made us feel comfortable quickly and accommodated to our family/friend group of 8, 4 adults, and 4 kids. At each stop, she handled the wrist bands so we didn't have to worry, allowing us time for photos and to take in the scenery. She answered all of our questions about the island and gave us some history and information about the culture. We especially enjoyed our time at Mayan Jungle with the animals and at West Bay Beach. She even offered to make stops along the way to capture some photos. Would highly recommend Jamie with Roatan Toucan Adventures!

Absolutely amazing excursion!! Ask for Manuel! - This excursion was amazing! We had Manuel as our guide and he made our day very relaxing. We started by driving around the island to the monkey and sloth experience which was fun. Our guide, Gavin, was very knowledgeable about all the animals we saw. We were next taken to our snorkeling excursion where our guide (can’t remember name) was great in pointing out different fish and other features of the reef. He also made sure we were ok snorkeling and kept an eye on all of us in case we needed rescuing or a life jacket. We ended at Brady’s Cay where we got to sit on the beach in beach chairs and enjoy the ocean and sunshine. It was not crowded at all and the staff were very attentive. Manuel got us back to the port in plenty of time to do some shopping and get back on the ship. I would definitely do this excursion again! Manuel was a fantastic guide! He told us a bit about the island and was able to answer every question we had. He spent the entire day with us and always made sure we knew he’d be right there waiting for us when we were done with an activity. We had a little trouble getting out of the port using the directions listed, but once we realized we just needed to head towards the exit, we found the tour group just fine. FYI, the Honduran government has recently put an end to allowing visitors to hold monkeys and sloths at the zoos.

Relaxing, gorgeous, safe, best destination on cruise - Marte was a lovely guide. All transport sorted. We had flexibility. Loved being in our own car, taking our own pace. Animals were gorgeous and the snorkeling great, lush waters and beach! Very safe place. Would go again even not on cruise.

Danny did a great job... - Danny did a great job showing us around Roatan and bringing us to our activities! The monkey/sloth/macaw experience was fun and enjoyable. Snorkeling was ok - not the friendliest guides. The private beach was great too. Service at the beach restaurant was great, but the food was only ok.

Incredibly Disappointed - Worst Snorkeling Ever, Dumpy Beach Club, Weak Animal Park & Ripoff Souvenir Shop - To say we were disappointed with this tour would be a gross understatement. We looked at other tours, including the three site snorkeling tours, which we heard from people were awesome, but we decided on this one because we felt like it was a great mix of all the things we thought the kids would enjoy. We were disappointed in all three areas of the tour. The only bright spot was our guide, Allen, who was really nice. Here is a breakdown for each area outlining why I wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone: Wildlife Park - We were really looking forward to this portion of the tour because our kids love animals. What we didn't realize is that we were going to see sloths, monkeys and birds in small cages, essentially a very low-budget zoo. The sloths were cool because they were outside the cages; however, the monkey portion was really weak. We went in a cage with one monkey in it and the park guide had the monkey climb on us so we could take photos. We then went and did the same thing with macaws. We were expecting a true wildlife park, not small cages with one or two monkeys in them. Also, be prepared that the guys who walk you around are very direct about expecting tips for the brief tour they give you. Beach Club - The beach is very nice but the beach club was awful. It seemed very run down. When we got to the actual beach, the chairs were stacked in so tightly that you could barely walk between them. Our guide helped us find a few chairs for our group. We were literally wedged in like sardines on chairs that were so tight you could barely move. The entire time, you are also surrounded and bombarded with all kinds of vendors trying to sell things. If someone told me that I had to go back to this beach club, I would probably just stay back on the ship instead. Snorkeling - In the 20+ years that we've been doing snorkeling trips, this one was hands down the very worst one ever. The guide was absolutely awful. He didn't say or do anything other than drive us out to a snorkeling spot, hand us a mask, and ask if we wanted a life jacket. He then just told us to get in the water and didn't tell us anything about where we were snorkeling or where we should go. We had to ask for fins. The gear was absolutely terrible. My wife and one daughter spent over half the time in the boat because my daughter's mask was so crappy that my daughter couldn't use it. The weather wasn't great, so we didn't have good visibility for the snorkeling, but even if it were, it wasn't a good spot. Others on our cruise later told us they had done the three site snorkeling trips and it was the best snorkeling they'd experienced. I don't know where else they'd been, but it had to be better than the lousy snorkeling tour we had. This tour was simply one of the beach vendors that takes a bunch of you out and throws you in the water and calls it a snorkeling tour. If you love snorkeling, absolutely DO NOT do this tour. It will be the biggest disappointment of your vacation--it certainly was for us. Lastly, our guide insisted on taking us to a place for souvenirs that had a "much better selection and better prices than the cruise terminal." (The shop was right across from the colored Roatan sign by the bay.) When we walked in, I immediately had suspicions because they handed us a 20% off coupon to use for everything. My guess was they used that coupon to write down everything we bought so they could pay a kickback to our guide for taking us there. We bought a couple small things that seemed way overpriced, even with the 20% discount, and left for the port. When we got to the port, we went in several stores before getting back on the ship. The port stores were all much nicer and cleaner, but more importantly, the pricing was way better. In most cases, nearly identical items were 50% cheaper in the port shops than the souvenir shop. I would not recommend this tour company or this tour to anyone. I'm shocked it has the reviews it has.
