- Wat Rong Khun - Known as “the White Temple,” Wat Rong Khun is one of Thailand’s most iconic temples. Its distinctiveness comes from its white color and the incorporation of glass pieces in the plaster, which glisten in the sunlight. The white represents the Buddha’s purity, while the glass signifies the Buddha’s wisdom and the Dhamma, the teachings of Buddhism.
- Golden Triangle - Experience the viewpoint where the Mekong River converges with Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar. Capture photos of the large golden Buddha by the Mekong riverside, then proceed to explore the historic town of Chiang Sean.
- Wat Rong Seur Ten (Blue Temple) - The Blue Temple, or Wat Rong Suea Ten, is the latest addition to Chiang Rai’s temple scene. Situated a few kilometers from Chiang Rai city in the Rimkok district, it was completed in 2016.
Although smaller than the White Temple and Black House, the Blue Temple is equally captivating, featuring a vibrant blue color with gold accents. The main attraction inside the grand hall is a large statue of a White Buddha in a seated position, surrounded by modern-style contemporary Buddhist art.
- Longneck Karen Village - The Karen tribe, often referred to as the Long Neck tribe, migrated to Thailand from Burma to escape conflict. They are renowned for their women, who wear golden rings around their necks. Starting at age five, a new ring is added each year until they turn 21. Ultimately, their necks become so elongated that these women are often called “dragon ladies” or simply “long necks.” According to Karen tradition, the longer the neck, the more beautiful the woman is considered.
