• Hoover Dam - As one of the select Outfitters authorized to take visitors to the base of the magnificent Hoover Dam, we offer a unique experience. Access is restricted, and guests must go through an approved outfitter like us to launch kayaks from the dam’s base. Highlights include Sauna Cave, Goldstrike Waterfalls, Melt Your Shoes Hot Springs, Arizona Hot Springs, Boyscout Slot Canyon, and the Emerald Cave.
• Colorado River - Embark on a kayaking journey from Hoover Dam to the renowned Sauna Cave, a 140-foot geothermal steam tunnel. This natural marvel reaches internal temperatures exceeding 140°F, due to intense geothermal activity beneath the Earth’s surface.

The adventure begins with a drive down a highly restricted road, typically reserved for Hoover Dam employees, made possible by our exclusive, pre-approved access passes. The drive lasts about 10 minutes.

From there, kayaks are launched directly into the Colorado River. The first stop is a man-made hot spring that appears and feels entirely natural. (The intriguing backstory will be shared in person!)

• Colorado River - After detoxifying in the hot springs and enjoying the refreshing Colorado River, the journey continues to Two Spectacular Geothermal Rain Caves, including First Rain Cave, First and Last Emerald Cave, and Little Mermaid Rock.
• Colorado River - Melt Your Shoes Hot Springs is the third stop. An underwater jacuzzi in the Colorado River leads to a 120-130 degree waterfall where geothermal water gushes from the cliffside. The combination of hot water and lower river levels can create a perfect 98 to 108-degree jacuzzi at the riverbank.
• Colorado River - The next destination is Goldstrike Hot Springs and Slot Canyon, where a hike up the slot 95-degree stream leads to a stunning geothermal waterfall and Hot Springs with five layers to choose from for the desired heat. The hike involves light scrambling and is very manageable.

Depending on heat and hiking comfort level, the hike can continue to the top of the waterfall to see a 300-foot horizontal waterfall.

Please note: These hikes are accessible during winter and spring but are closed in summer due to heat. Only one hike can be done each day. With our backdoor pass from kayaking the Colorado River, all these sights can be experienced. Additionally, the journey includes driving down and launching kayaks from the dam’s base, showcasing one of the most beautiful river stretches in the world.

• Colorado River - Lone Palm Falls Geothermal Waterfall. These hikes are accessible during winter and spring but are closed in summer due to heat. Only one hike can be done each day. With our backdoor pass from kayaking the Colorado River, all these sights can be experienced.
• Colorado River - Boyscout Canyon: Year-round, the safest and easiest way to access the canyon is via the river with an outfitter like us. (Unless equipped with a 350-foot rappelling rope and an off-road vehicle).

This is a favorite stop, weather and time permitting. It’s challenging, but children in grades 5-8 can manage the second geothermal waterfall rope climb and see the 400-foot horizontal rain cave and waterfall. Guidance is provided on using leverage against both sides of the slot canyon to ascend.

• Arizona Hot Springs - The hike from the river involves climbing a large ladder through a waterfall to reach the world-famous Arizona Hot Springs.
• Lake Mead National Recreation Area - The paddling journey follows the Black Canyon water trail from the Hoover Dam base to Willow Beach, within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The river’s gentle, slow one mph current aids the paddling. Guidance is provided on catching the current while avoiding eddy currents. The journey includes viewing 6 caves, 11 Geothermal Waterfalls, 4-6 Hot Springs, and stopping at some of the most beautiful beaches and emerald caves with crystal-clear, almost glowing water.
• Willow Beach - The trip concludes at the dirt boat launch of Willow Beach. Guests can either be picked up there (for morning people) to drive home immediately or be taken back to their car at the Hoover Dam Lodge (for those not fond of early starts).
• Emerald Cove - The return journey to Willow Beach includes passing by the Emerald Cave. The lighting is optimal from July to September, but the cave can be visited year-round.

Guests have the option to explore ONLY one of these crevice canyons in a day’s expedition, but we traverse THROUGH all of it thanks to a SHORT-CUT through the Colorado River, embarking right from the foot of the Hoover Dam.

Sauna Cave: we take a pause here to unravel hot springs deep within the gorge.

Gold Strike Hot Springs: merely a stone’s throw away, we make our way to these hot springs for a brief plunge and a chance for a picture.

Boy scout Canyon: we step out of our kayaks to wander in this vicinity to witness hot springs, tight crevice canyons, and indulge in some mountaineering.

Arizona Hot Springs Beach: we take an about quarter of an hour hike to this expansive beach area to savor a lunch break.

Emerald Cave: this beautiful cave, the result of natural fault lines, lights up in emerald hues. We sail through for a swift snapshot.

Emerald Cove: we halt on the beach here for a half-hour recess.
