Thank You, Petrus! - I made this booking for my parents to celebrate their 32nd wedding anniversary, I got an hour long phone call from them raving about how lovely their guide and trip were; they went on and on about how the guide was very kind and knowledgeable. Thank you Petrus for making it such a memorable experience for them. You made their first full day in Namibia an absolute highlight. Thank you for caring for my parents with such patience as you would your own!

Great service from AFRICAR Windhoek - We booked our 25-day self-drive explorer trip through Lark Journeys, and they booked our 4x4 Toyota SUV through AFRICAR. We were 3 drivers. It took very little time to go through the paperwork and have them show us the car workings, point out the two spare tyres, and explain the double fuel tank. The staff were friendly and efficient, and we were soon on our way. The car came with an “alarm” that beeped whenever you went over the speed limit, even on the dirt roads, which we came to appreciate. After coming off the gravel road from the Hoba Meteorite just outside Grootfontein, the computer started flashing warning messages. AFRICAR was quick to find a contact in Grootfontein, Jaco Nienaber of Tyremax, to meet us and take us to his garage. He dropped everything to help us. They cleaned the undercarriage with high pressure air, but the screen kept flashing warning messages. Jaco took us to Willy van Wyk of Grootfontein Auto Electrical to check the computer. Willy determined that a cable to the back right wheel had come loose and, despite computer messages to the contrary, we could continue to drive the car. Toyota in Rundu had the necessary part, but we were heading west to Fiume, and it was a Friday afternoon. We made it to our next camp through thick loose sand with no problems and in time for dinner. At times I could have hugged the Toyota. We tried to be careful, but we did have to grind through some suspect water obstacles and dongas (South African for ravines or gullies)! I think we were one of the last cars to cross a river en route to Mowani Mountain Camp before another car got stuck. And try as we might, and we thought we were getting pretty adept at avoiding them, we did hit some big potholes, esp. about 30km east of Rundu and again around Divundu or Kongola, not to mention parts of Windhoek. We were planning to park the car in Sangwali but then decided to follow the guide, Stefan, to the lodge in Nkasa Rupara National Park since we had 4 big suitcases and other hand luggage. We made it there slowly, at times through thick sand. At 4.15pm on the second day, the heavens opened, and it was like a bucket of water pouring down on us for 1 ½ hours. We had concerns about driving back through the black mud, but Stefan was included in the package, so we were able to follow him out, not without some backtracking and off-roading! It was all part of the adventure, and we learnt how to drive a 4x4. My son in particular enjoyed it. The handover at the airport was quick. We would use AFRICAR again and appreciated the quality of their vehicle and their prompt reaction to our dilemma!

A good way to see what little there is in Windhoek. - We had an afternoon in Windhoek as our flight landed in the morning and the tour we were on didn't start until the evening. We booked this tour at the last minute to get a flavour for the city. It was as good as it could be given that there isn't a lot to see in the city. The Katutura township was interesting as was the market and the visit to the womens centre. It was a good way to spend an afternoon in the city and feel that we'd done more than just stay in a hotel. Would recommend.
