Upon arrival at the island, guests will have 2 hours to explore on a guided walk. Our knowledgeable guides will share insights about the island and its unique birdlife as you hike to the summit, offering exceptional photo opportunities.
Mou Waho Island is a predator-free nature reserve managed by the Department of Conservation, featuring a natural glacial lake at its summit. Visitors can witness the results of conservation efforts, including the rare flightless Buff Weka (extinct on the mainland since 1920), the Mountain Stone Weta, and various other native birds.
Please be aware that the walk involves a 150-meter vertical ascent over a 1-kilometer distance.
