Ayers House - 9 AM PICK-UP AT AYERS HOUSE
Meet your guide and fellow hikers at this peaceful and convenient location in the city center, featuring a lovely garden, away from the hustle and bustle of city traffic.
TIPS ON HOW TO GET TO AYERS HOUSE
It’s approximately a 15-minute walk from Adelaide Railway Station. If you’d like to conserve your energy for the hike, take the free tram (BTANIC service toward BOTANIC GARDENS) from the station and get off at the BOTANIC GARDENS TRAM STOP (the last stop on the line).
A BIT OF HISTORY ON AYERS HOUSE
Originally built in 1846 as a simple home, it was acquired in 1855 by Sir Henry Ayers, who transformed it into a magnificent bluestone mansion. Today, it is recognized as a State Heritage Place.
PLEASE NOTE
This is solely your pick-up point; the tour does NOT include an interior visit.
- Morialta Conservation Park - As the hike begins through the Australian native bush, keep an eye out for wildlife surprises as your guide shares insights about them!
Spot koalas relaxing in the treetops, and if fortunate, you might see a kangaroo hopping by or an echidna ambling along. The park’s creeks and rock pools are teeming with life: frogs, geckos, skinks, and even tiny dragons inhabit this area. And let’s not overlook the feathered residents: from the colorful rainbow lorikeets to the playful kookaburras, the air is filled with their calls.
Enjoy the dramatic gorges and sheer rock faces illuminated by the morning light, along with views of Adelaide in the distance from lookout points.
In season, you’ll witness Morialta’s First, Second, and Third Falls, all cascading over impressive quartzite cliffs. Take a moment to listen to the gentle cascading water in this picturesque setting along Fourth Creek.
