Small Goose Pagoda - Next, the tour will transfer to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, located within Jianfu Temple, about one kilometer south of Xi’an city center. It is one of two significant Buddhist pagodas built during the Tang Dynasty, approximately 1300 years ago. The Small Wild Goose Pagoda and its larger counterpart, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, are two important Buddhist sites from the Tang Dynasty, dating back 1300 years.
The two pagodas symbolized the city of Chang’an (Constant Peace). Xi’an (West Peace) was known as Chang’an until the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), when Beijing became China’s capital. Chang’an served as the capital for ten dynasties.
Xi’an City Wall (Chengqiang) - After lunch, the tour will transfer to the city wall. Visitors can walk or cycle around the wall, with bike rental fees paid locally if chosen. The first landmark visitors encounter in Xi’an is the ancient City Wall, encircling the old city. It is one of Xi’an’s most famous attractions. Based on suggestions from previous guests, this is sufficient to see the pagoda and the statue of Monk Xuanzang at the south square outside the temple. As a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists, the pagoda, built during the Tang Dynasty, was once the site for Xuanzang to translate Buddhist sutras.
Today, the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda Area is the most popular area for both tourists and locals in Xi’an. It is a wonderful place to enjoy charming night scenes and relax.
