The tour guide will share fascinating histories and stories along the way, and questions are welcome.
Begin with a visit to the renowned Terracotta Warriors Museum, often referred to as “the Eighth Wonder of the World.” The museum is divided into three sections: Pit No.1, Pit No.2, and Pit No.3. The original site was discovered by four local farmers while drilling a well in 1974 and has since become Xi’an’s most significant attraction. Explore the museum and gain valuable insights from the tour guide.
Xi’an City Wall (Chengqiang) - After lunch, consider visiting the 600-year-old Xi’an City Wall. Ascend to the top of this ancient city wall and enjoy the views of the city below.
Muslim Quarter - Next, proceed to the Muslim Quarter, the center of the Muslim community in Xi’an City. Follow the tour guide through the Muslim food and souvenir market. Sample delicious local snacks at your own expense if desired.
After the tour, transfer to the airport for a 2-hour flight to Beijing.
Beijing - Upon arrival in Beijing, a driver will be waiting with a name sign at the exit of the arrival hall to take you to your hotel in Beijing.
Beijing: Tiananmen Square-Forbidden City-Great Wall at Mutianyu (B,L)
Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang) - The tour guide and driver will pick you up at 8:00 am in the lobby of the Beijing hotel, with the first stop being Tian’anmen Square.
Tian’anmen Square is the world’s largest public square, home to the National Museum of China, the mausoleum of Mao Zedong, and the Monument to the People’s Heroes. Follow the tour guide, stroll along the square, and learn about the histories and stories behind it.
Forbidden City-The Palace Museum - From there, pass through the South Gate to the magnificent Forbidden City, a 250-acre complex of courtyards, palaces, pavilions, and gardens that served as the imperial palace for over 500 years. Declared a World Heritage Site in 1987, the Forbidden City houses ancient treasures from thousands of years of history. Admire the maze of palaces, gardens, and stunning courtyards as the guide shares their histories and stories.
Mutianyu Great Wall - Afterward, enjoy a traditional Chinese lunch at a local restaurant. Then relax during the 1.5-hour drive to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. This section is more rugged and less crowded than the more famous Badaling section. Over 96% of Mutianyu is covered with trees and orchards.
Follow the tour guide to hike up and down different towers, and enjoy the convenience of a cable car round trip or a toboggan ride at the wall.
After the tour, transfer to the airport for a flight to Shanghai.

Shanghai City Highlights (B,L)
Shanghai Museum (Shanghai Bowuguan) - Meet the tour guide in the lobby of the Shanghai hotel, board a private air-conditioned vehicle, and embark on a customized tour of the city’s sights. Discuss the historical highlights and attractions of interest with the knowledgeable guide, who will help plan an itinerary based on your preferences. Typically, the tour begins with the Shanghai Museum, which is divided into eleven galleries and three exhibition halls. With distinctive collections of bronze ware, ceramics, and painting and calligraphy, the museum boasts 120,000 pieces of rare and precious cultural relics in 21 categories.
Jade Buddha Temple - Then, proceed to the Jade Buddha Temple to see the White Jade Buddhas brought from Burma in the nineteenth century. Stroll around the temple’s halls and courtyards with the tour guide, learn about the temple’s history and Buddhism in China, and observe locals worshiping and burning incense.
Yu Garden (Yuyuan) - Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, then explore Yuyuan Garden, the largest ancient garden with Ming and Qing style architecture. Follow the tour guide to explore the garden and learn how to create a perfect garden. Visit the Old City God Temple, where various local snack shops and streets are scattered around.
The Bund - Continue to the Bund to see the amazing city skyline, including the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center, Shanghai Tower, and colonial buildings along the Huangpu River. Take a walk and stop for photos.
Former French Concession - Continue to explore the Former French Concession. Besides its historical and religious significance, the Shanghai French Concession is also a fantastic place for leisure. Follow the tour guide to wander the narrow alleyways, dine in one of the many cafes or restaurants (at your own expense), or browse through the endless art galleries and photographic studios.
Xintiandi - The last stop is the lively nightlife district of Xintiandi. As a window to the past and the future, to China and the world, Shanghai Xintiandi’s Shikumen attraction was created by converting residential blocks into a multifunctional dining, retail, and entertainment center with restaurants, boutiques, cafes, and bars of international standard. Follow the tour guide and explore the area. If some of these places have been visited before and something different is desired, feel free to discuss with the tour guide where to go. Attractions or activities can be chosen based on interests: Shanghai Museum, Pearl TV Tower, World Financial Center, or Jinmao Tower.
