Tomb of Emperor Jingdi (Hanyangling) - The Tomb of Emperor Jingdi, also known as the Hanyangling Museum, is the resting place of the fourth emperor of the Western Han Dynasty. It was built between 154 BC and 126 BC. Over 8,000 attendant tombs surround the Emperor and Empress’ tombs at the center.
Eighty-one burial pits have been discovered around the emperor’s mausoleum, containing a variety of burial objects. These include cavalry guards of honor, warriors, imperial concubines, court maids, and various chariots, weapons, tools, utensils, food storage, and other items.
It resembles an underground kingdom with Terracotta figures and daily necessities that the emperor might need in another world. Exploring this underground museum, located next to the emperor’s mausoleum, and walking over these pits with relics via the glass passageway, gives a sense of stepping back in time and offers a deeper understanding of the grandeur of imperial dynastic China.
