After a 3-4 hour drive, guests will arrive at Hukou Waterfall to admire the stunning scenery of the Yellow River. This is the second largest waterfall in China, following the Huangguoshu Waterfall in Guizhou Province.
- Hukou Waterfall - At this location, the Yellow River bed narrows dramatically from about 300 meters to roughly 50 meters, channeling the river’s waters into a narrow gorge and cascading down approximately 30 meters into the gorge below. The powerful waters then flow along a channel about five kilometers long to the lower reaches. The channel resembles the mouth of a pot, which is why “Hukou” translates to “mouth of a pot” in Chinese. After the tour, guests will return to their Xian downtown hotel around 9 pm. It is advisable to bring some food, as finding a good restaurant in the Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area can be challenging.

I am sure it must be wonderful... - I rate 4 stars only because I am sure it must be a wonderful experience. Unfortunately with young children 4 hour drive a whole day trip not really advisable especially in summer... so I cancelled the trip. Ms. Cherry from the tour company was most helpful and understanding and she along with my wife worked out a local city tour visiting the wall and some other attractions such as Bell Tower and Muslim Street (btw Muslim Street should be called Food Street in my opinion). Anyway it all turned out to be quite enjoyable in the company of Noble, our English speaking guide.
