The Terracotta Army is part of an extensive burial complex covering approximately 38 square miles, including the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China (247-210 BC). Today, the Terracotta Army is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major tourist attraction in Xi’an. The army consists of warriors, chariots, and horses. Each soldier is unique, with detailed facial expressions, hairstyles, and armor indicating their rank and role. Over 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots, and 670 horses have been unearthed, with many more still buried. The figures were crafted using a combination of molds and hand-carving. Originally, they were painted in vibrant colors, although much of the paint has faded over time.
