- Lake Yamanaka - Often referred to as “Swan Lake,” Lake Yamanaka is the largest among the Fuji Five Lakes, situated near Mount Fuji in Japan. It is the closest lake to Mount Fuji, offering a spectacular view of the mountain.
Visitors can enjoy a peaceful walk along the lakeside, where swans can be seen gliding and resting at the water’s edge, providing a serene experience amidst the picturesque surroundings. On clear days, the remarkable “upside-down Fuji” phenomenon, where Mount Fuji is mirrored on the lake’s surface, is truly awe-inspiring.
- Chureito Pagoda - Located in Arakurayama Sengen Park, the Chureito Pagoda is a must-visit attraction. The park is famous for its stunning panoramic views of the Chureito Pagoda, Mt. Fuji, and Fujiyoshida City at the mountain’s base.
To reach the Chureito Pagoda and the observation deck, visitors must ascend 398 steps. The view from the top is considered one of Japan’s finest and is listed among the 21 must-visit places for photographers worldwide.
While the cherry blossom season is perfect for capturing the iconic image of Mt. Fuji surrounded by cherry blossoms and the five-storied pagoda, the park offers breathtaking scenery year-round as the landscape changes with the seasons.
- Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine - Established in 705, the shrine has been the guardian deity of Arakura Village for over 1,300 years. It is a sacred site where people seek protection from misfortune, promote household harmony, and pray for safe childbirth and successful child-rearing.
- Oshino Hakkai - Oshino Hakkai is a village celebrated for its eight crystal-clear spring water ponds, recognized as one of the “Top 100 Famous Waters of Japan.” It is designated as a Natural Monument and is part of the Mount Fuji World Heritage Site.
The eight ponds are fed by snowmelt from the slopes of nearby Mount Fuji. As the water filters through porous lava layers for over 80 years, it results in exceptionally clear spring water that is highly valued by locals. Visitors can taste this magical spring water for free, savoring its sweetness and purity, and experience the legend of longevity.
- Lake Kawaguchiko - Lake Kawaguchi is the most popular of the Fuji Five Lakes, known for its breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Fuji from the shore. It boasts the longest shoreline among the Fuji Five Lakes. On a calm, clear day, a perfect mirror image of Mount Fuji can be seen reflected in the water.
In 2013, the lake was added to the World Heritage List as part of the Fujisan Cultural Site.
- Oishi Park - Oishi Park is a stunning scenic area where visitors can enjoy a magnificent view of flowers, Lake Kawaguchi, and the majestic Mt. Fuji all at once. The lakeside promenade features various flowers that bloom according to the season. On the west side of the park, the “350-meter-long Flowers Road” offers a vibrant display of colorful blooms throughout the year. At the end of Flowers Road, Kochia (summer cypress) flourishes from summer to autumn, making it a popular photo spot.
Throughout the year, the park showcases 90 different types of seasonal flowers, with various blooms visible at any given time. As visitors stroll along the promenade surrounded by flowers and gazing at Mt. Fuji, they will feel a sense of tranquility.
( Note: During the 2025 Kawaguchiko Cherry Blossom Festival, visit the Sakura forest by Lake Kawaguchi instead of Oishi Park. )
- Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center - On the second floor of the Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center, visitors can capture a unique perspective of the magnificent red torii blending with Mount Fuji.
