The British Consulate At Takao - The British Consular Residence at Takow was constructed on the hill of Shaochuantou. This independent red-brick structure with a wooden veranda served as a venue for hosting diplomatic envoys and guests, as well as the consul’s residence. In 1900, it was renovated to include an arched veranda. During the Japanese colonial era, it was transformed into the Kaohsiung Marine Observatory. After the National Government assumed control of Taiwan, it was converted again into a meteorological observatory. In 1977, Typhoon Thelma caused significant damage to the building. A restoration project began in 1985, and by 1987, it was officially declared a historic site. In 2004, the Bureau of Cultural Affairs repurposed this historic site, turning it into a renowned cultural tourist attraction in Kaohsiung City.

Qijin - Strolling through Cijin Island Old Street offers a delightful experience, with numerous authentic seafood restaurants available for lunch.

Qijin - Cijin Lighthouse was established after the signing of the Convention of Peking in 1860 during the Qing Dynasty. Takau Harbor opened to foreign traders in 1863, and with the rise in commercial shipping and the absence of a proper navigation system, British engineers constructed a Chinese-style rectangular red-brick lighthouse atop Mount Ki-au, on the harbor’s southern side. During Japanese rule, the lighthouse was rebuilt in 1916 as part of harbor expansion efforts and renovated in 1918 to its current appearance. The lighthouse’s base was reconstructed in Baroque style. In 1985, it was designated a Historical Building and subsequently opened to the public.

Qijin - Cihou Fort’s initial fortifications were built in 1720 under the Manchu-led Qing Empire of China. Following the Japanese expedition in 1874, the Qing authorities erected a modern fort, which in 1880 was equipped with new Armstrong guns. It did not play a role in the Sino-French War, as the conflict in Taiwan occurred around Keelung, and French ships did not approach the port during the blockade.

Great Harbor Bridge - The Dagang Bridge, located next to the Pier-2 Art Center, is Taiwan’s first horizontally rotating landscape bridge and the longest cross-harbor rotating bridge in Asia. It completes a horizontal rotation within 3 minutes. The bridge opens and closes at 3 pm daily and opens at 7 pm every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It accommodates pedestrians and bicycles, linking the Pier-2 Art Center and the Zhan-2 Warehouse, two popular attractions, and is currently the trendiest tourist route.
-
The Pier-2 Art Centre - Situated on the north bank of Asia New Bay Area, where the Love River meets Kaohsiung Port, the Pier-2 Art Center embodies Yancheng’s history and serves as the cornerstone of Taiwan’s Cultural and Creative Corridor. Since its inception, the Pier-2 Art Center has revitalized the cultural allure and lifestyle aesthetics of Kaohsiung as a port city. It attracts a continuous influx of people, fostering creativity. Performances and events that showcase Kaohsiung’s unique characteristics are held, presenting fresh ideas and perspectives. These form the bedrock of Kaohsiung’s cultural and creative industries. The center is vibrant and enthusiastic, with limitless potential for competitiveness.

Hamasen Museum Of Taiwan Railway - Originally Kaohsiung Port Station, Hamasen Railway Cultural Park has been transformed into the Takao Railway Museum. The railway has been preserved in its entirety, making it Taiwan’s only century-old railway station with a functional railway. In addition to the Museum, there is a vast green space featuring a stunning bridge, reconstructed from a 38-year-old bridge. Extending from the Pier-2 Art Center to the Railway Culture Park, it has become a favorite destination for both locals and international tourists.
