- Imjingak Pyeonghoa-Nuri Park - Imjingak Peace Park serves as a symbolic entrance to the DMZ, offering profound insights into the Korean War. Visitors can explore significant historical landmarks such as the Freedom Bridge, which was once a passage for approximately 13,000 refugees seeking freedom, and Mangbaedan, where North Korean defectors honor their hometowns. Additionally, the Jangdan Station steam locomotive, used for transporting military supplies during the war, is on display.
- Bridge of Freedom - Located in Imjingak, the Freedom Bridge is a historic structure built after the Korean War. It was utilized by prisoners of war returning to South Korea during the armistice. The name “Freedom Bridge” symbolizes their release from captivity. Today, it stands as a reminder of Korea’s division and the events following the war.
- Mangbaedan - Mangbaedan is a commemorative altar for individuals separated from their families during the Korean War. Unable to return to their North Korean hometowns, they would bow towards their ancestral homes at this site. It continues to be visited, especially during traditional holidays, by those wishing to pay respects to their families.
- The Third Tunnel - The Third Tunnel is a prominent site within the DMZ. Measuring 1,635 meters in length, 2 meters in width, and 2 meters in height, it was clandestinely constructed by North Korea as an invasion route into South Korea. The tunnel is spacious enough to accommodate an entire military division and was intended for the transport of troops, weapons, and ammunition. It was remarkably excavated using only basic tools and dynamite, and was discovered in the 1970s thanks to information from a North Korean defector.
- Dora Observatory - Dorasan Observatory provides a unique chance to view North Korea from afar. From this elevated observatory, visitors can see parts of North Korea, including the Kaesong Industrial Complex, a propaganda village near the towering North Korean flagpole, and buildings in the Joint Security Area on clear days.
- Unification Village - Unification Village marks the final stop on the DMZ tour. Established in the 1970s with government backing, the village was initially part of international propaganda efforts, modeled after Israel’s kibbutz system. Today, it is home to around 400 residents, most of whom are engaged in agriculture.
