- Tsakhkadzor - Tsaghkadzor is a charming city in the Kotayk province of Armenia, renowned as a ski and climatic resort. Its name translates from Armenian as “Gorge of Flowers.” As early as the 5th century BC, the healing properties of the local climate were recognized. The natural beauty here is beyond words! Visitors can admire mountains, snow-capped peaks, swift rivers, steep cliffs, picturesque valleys adorned with floral carpets, dense forests, and medicinal springs, including the famous Arjahpyuru and Ttujur. Tsakhkadzor offers excellent conditions for relaxation and sports, with numerous children’s camps and rest homes. The country’s main sports complex, which has brought Tsakhkadzor international acclaim, is also located here. Visitors can enjoy a ride on the aerial cable car and take in the stunning views of the bright blue Sevan, Greater and Lesser Ararat.
- Kecharis Monastery - The Kecharis Monastery complex was constructed in the 11th century in Tsakhkadzor. During the 12th-13th centuries, Kecharis was a significant religious center in Armenia, featuring a higher school. The complex includes three churches, two chapels, and a porch, with another church and porch to the west. The main temple is the Church of St. Gregory, the first building of the monastery, erected by Grigor Magistros Pahlavuni in 1003. The Surb Nshan Church is a small structure built in the 11th century, likely soon after the first church. To the south stands the Church of Katogike, constructed during the time of Prince Vasak Khakhpakyan or Proshyan (the first quarter of the 13th century) by architect Vetzik, commemorated with original cross-stone carvings. The chapel adjacent to the Church of St. Gregory served as the burial vault for the monastery’s founder, Grigor Magistros Pahlavuni, dating back to the 11th century.
- Lake Sevan - The high-altitude Lake Sevan is known as the “pearl of Armenia.” Situated at 1,900 meters above sea level in the center of the Armenian highland, it is 63 km northeast of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, and is the largest of the Caucasus lakes. Surrounded by mountain ranges, Sevan offers a breathtaking view of the alpine lake. The lake is celebrated for its pristine fresh water, and the pure mountain air is beneficial for health.
- Sevanavank - The Sevanavank monastery complex is located on the Sevan peninsula. Founded in 305 by St. Gregory the Illuminator, it was built on the site of a pagan temple. In the 9th century, the princes of Syunik established Sevan as a strategic point. In 874, Mariam, the wife of Prince Vassak of Syunik and daughter of King Ashot Bagratuni, constructed two churches here – St. Arakeloc and St. Astvatcatcin. These churches are adorned with various wood-carved capitals, some of which are preserved in the Armenia State Museum of History and the Art Gallery of St. Petersburg (Hermitage). In 1869, a spiritual school was established within the complex. The remnants of a church with a domed hall are preserved at the top of the island’s mountain. The cloister’s territory is rich in khachqars (cross-stones).
- Dilijan - The stunning nature and ancient monasteries make Dilijan one of the most captivating travel destinations. Visitors can enjoy a unique walking tour of Dilijan and explore Old Dilijan town.
- Lake Parz - Lake Parz is beautiful throughout the year. In summer, it offers a cool retreat from the heat, thanks to the cold currents and dense trees surrounding the lake. Lake Parz is renowned for its appearance: the mirror-like surface reflects the colors of the surrounding forest; in summer and spring, shades of green; in autumn, red and gold; and in snowy winter, a special beauty in blue and white.
- Haghartsin Monastery - The final destination on this trip is the Haghartsin Monastery, dating back to the 10th-14th centuries. The name translates to “the play of the eagle.” The scenery resembles a stunning work of art, with both the monastery and the surrounding nature offering a breathtaking view. It is one of those places in Armenia that feels like an enchanting movie set.
