- Khor Virap - Khor Virap is the most renowned pilgrimage site in Armenia, closely linked to the adoption of Christianity. Christianity became the state religion in Armenia in 301, thanks to the efforts of Saint Gregory The Illuminator. Before converting King Trdat III to Christianity, he was imprisoned in a dungeon, over which the Khor Virap monastery church was constructed in the 17th century. From the monastery, visitors can enjoy the breathtaking view of the Biblical Mount Ararat.
- Noravank Monastery - Traveling along a narrow road, surrounded by rocks with numerous caves, one encounters a scene where architecture harmonizes with nature. The monastery, adorned with exquisite architectural designs and luxurious decorations, is a prime example of 13th-century Armenian architecture. Noravank includes the churches of St. Karapet, St. Gregory The Illuminator, and the two-story St. Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God) church, noted for its perfect construction and sculptural artistry.
- Wings of Tatev - On October 16, 2010, church bells rang loudly in Tatev, marking the start of a program to restore a medieval monastic complex and the opening of the “Wings of Tatev” Ropeway. The 5.7 km ropeway, constructed in 11 months, traverses a deep gorge of the River Vorotan and hills covered with lush forests. The tramway is supported by three towers between its two terminals. One terminal is on a hill overlooking the village of Halidzor, and the other is near Tatev Monastery, on the road to Tatev village. Two cabins operate simultaneously, traveling in opposite directions. There are six cables in total (three for each cabin), each specifically designed for this project. In about 11 minutes, a tramway cabin transports 30 passengers at a time from the village of Halidzor to the magnificent Tatev complex.
- Tatev Monastery - Among the architectural marvels of Zangezour, the Tatev monastery stands unrivaled. It was the wealthiest medieval monastery in Armenia. Besides being a religious center, Tatev was also a significant strategic center for the Syunik kingdom. Situated in a naturally fortified location, Tatev monastery has always been an impregnable fortress against invaders. During unstable political times, several secret paths within the fortress led to the canyon, serving as a connection between the monastery and the outside world.
