- Lake Sevan - Nestled at a high altitude of 1,900 meters above sea level, Lake Sevan is often referred to as the “pearl of Armenia.” Situated in the heart of the Armenian highlands, 63 km northeast of Yerevan, it is the largest lake in the Caucasus region. Surrounded by majestic mountain ranges, the lake offers breathtaking views of its alpine beauty. Renowned for its pristine fresh water and pure mountain air, Lake Sevan is known for its health benefits.
- Monastery Sevanavank - Located on the Sevan peninsula, the Sevanavank monastery complex was established in 305 by St. Gregory the Illuminator, who constructed the church on the site of a former pagan temple. In the 9th century, the Syunik princes supported Sevan, and in 874, Mariam, the wife of Prince Vassak of Syunik and daughter of King Ashot Bagratuni, built two churches here: St. Arakeloc and St. Astvatcatcin. These churches are adorned with intricately carved wooden capitals, some of which are preserved in the Armenia State Museum of History and the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. In 1869, a spiritual school was established within the complex. The island’s mountain top still holds the remnants of a church with a domed hall, and the cloister area is rich with khachkars (cross-stones).
- Noratus Cemetery - The journey continues along the shore to Noratus, a village renowned for housing the largest collection of Armenian Khachkars—stone steles engraved with crosses, symbolizing the path to salvation. According to legend, Hayk, the ancestor of all Armenians, instructed his people to decorate every stone in Armenia, resulting in approximately 3,000 decorated stones depicting various historical stories. Selim Pass, a mountain pass in Armenia, is situated at an altitude of 2,500 meters. From the pass, one can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape: a vast, green valley interspersed with babbling brooks and a winding road. A unique panorama unfolds from the top of the pass.
- Hayravank Monastery - The Hayravank monastery, an Armenian architectural monument from the 9th to 13th centuries, is located in the village of Hayravank on the Sevan Lake’s coastal foreland. Although the monastery has reached us in a dilapidated state without its dome, the church and courtyard remain preserved.
- Jermuk - In Jermuk, visitors can explore the mineral water gallery, the Jermuk waterfall, and the natural beauty of the area.
- Jermuk Waterfall - Jermuk Waterfall, the most picturesque waterfall in Armenia, is situated in the health resort of Jermuk. Located at an altitude of 2,000 meters above sea level, the waterfall stands 70 meters tall and is considered the second highest in Armenia.
- Areni - Areni is renowned for its wine production. Visitors to the Areni wine region can tour a winery and enjoy tastings of three types of Armenian wine.
