Wonderful place! - Wonderful place! We came for a tasting and stayed for an extra drink. The tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly and funny (Mark). We bought a few bottles to take home and the owner went and got us a nicer bag to take home. An unnecessary but pleasant touch. We were made to feel welcome and valued. The gin was great (even though I don't normally drink gin - turns out I don't like tonic). The rum was excellent.

A generous, fun, and interesting experience. A must do for gin lovers, actually for anyone (provided you aren't teetotal - A must do experience (unless you don't drink), but what sort of moron would book a gin distillery tour if they didn't like gin! There were four groups on our tour, we all ended up chatting and laughing together. Our great guide, Tom, expertly taught us how small batch gin is made, and how the care and attention leads to a superior product. The tastings really showcased the different flavour profiles of gin, and how they were made, and you got a real understanding of this unique company. The gin is excellent. The rum is amazing (yes, there is rum as well!). You can really see that the staff if this pub/distillery really have a passion for what they do with a real family feel. To sum up the tour in one word, 'generous'.

Excellent tour and tasting at the Hooting Owl - We had a fantastic time at the Hooting Owl. Tom was our 'guide' - he was great, very knowledgeable, lots of stories and lots of laughs. The gin tasting is very generous! - lots of samples, two drinks of your choice and a couple of surprises which I will not give away. We found this great value for money, a fantastic atmosphere - would highly recommend.

Excellent. - Excellent afternoon. Our host Martin was very professional and informative as well as entertaining and fun. Coping with a group of 12-13 ladies all very excited and tipsy by the end of the afternoon can not have been easy. Big thank you to him for making it so enjoyable. I would highly recommended.

Immensely enjoyable gin tasting experience in a fantastic pub - Excellent distillery tour and gin tasting experience with Tom our helpful, cheery and funny guide, a big shout out to Tom and Matthew master distiller in the making and Dom our most hospitable host who graced us with his presence and his wonderful red waistcoat. We enjoyed ourselves and the gin immensely and loved the gentleman’s snug decor and choice of music. Final mention to the two ladies Julie and Lesley we met on the day and their anecdote about the ugly bus

Afternoon of gin and laughter - This is a must do tour when visiting York ! If you are not really a gin lover, you will be after this tour because apart from the Hooting Owl making sensational gins, Toms passion for all things gin will convince you to give it a try. Toms knowledge of the distilling process combined with his entertaining stories made for a perfect afternoon and the generous tastings were the best you will find. The venue itself is worth the visit as you will find its unique decor, friendly welcoming staff and fresh tasty food platters will have you coming back again and again.

Amazing Afternoon on the Gin Tour - An amazing afternoon at The Hooting Owl on their gin distillery tour and tasting. Tom was knowledgable and kept everyone laughing throughout the experience, a great atmosphere and the gin was delicious! We even went for dinner and returned later for another gin to finish the evening. Definitely recommend!
