The adventure is self-guided so there will NOT be anyone to meet you at the start. After booking, it is ESSENTIAL you open an email from Solve The City entitled "Your Code is Ready!" This will be sent once you are within 3 days of your booking or immediately if you have booked last minute.

Fabulous experience - We had the most wonderful time falling in love with our home city all over again. The excitement when we got a clue correct was unbelievable, you really get drawn into the mystery. It was so well planned out and a lovely route, showing York at it’s very best. Would definitely do it again! 😊

Magic day out! - My husband and I enjoy escape rooms, but felt our kids (11 & 9) have been just a bit too young. However, this was perfect for us all to do together! We all very much enjoyed it. Much better than some other city based treasure hunt games we have done (by another operator) as you have physical things (and in some cases people) to interact with. We got distracted by a street performer and some churros...which then meant we had to rush a bit - I would have loved to know how far we were through so we could gauge this a bit better - in the end we had 30min to spare (if it was possible, we didn't spot it). Also felt we had some (gentle) exercise, and saw some parts of York we hadn't been to before. We loved the lack of time pressure (before we got distracted ;) ). Only part we were a little frustrated by was looking for cats! We hadn't realised initially that there were LOADs of little cat statues all over York, which caused us some confusion. Especially as these were some of the only parts that were timed, and the shambles was chaos today - so couldn't easily wander up and down looking for them - and it wasn't clear until we got the hint which part of the street they were in - by which time we were at the other end. Overall a great day, thanks - please do more of these up north!

Unique experience for curious sightseers - We wanted something different to do on a day trip to York with our 11 year old son and this experience did not disappoint! It was really exciting starting off in the vinyl cafe as the staff were super friendly and definitely made us feel like we were in for a good time. The clues throughout were perfectly pitched - not too tricky for our son to feel left out but difficult enough that we got a little buzz every time we got the right answer. Clues were varied and fun to complete - a mixture of observation, mathematics, and pattern matching. There was plenty to think about and hints were available on the app if we got stuck. The app that runs the game worked perfectly with no signal issues, making the whole process very smooth and professional. It took us around 2 and a half hours to complete without rushing. I'd say we could have done it more quickly but I have dodgy knees so I'm a bit slower moving than most There is a lot of walking but since York is pretty flat it was manageable. I was very tired by the end but no regrets at all. We totally felt like we were on The Crystal Maze. All the dashing about really elevates it from a normal escape room experience and we couldn't have had more fun. It's a unique way to take in the city and we'd love to do another one. Definitely keen to try Stratford-upon-Avon later in the year.

A fun day in York - A very enjoyable walk round the centre of York with our 2 grandsons, solving puzzles, finding clues which lead on to the next location. We've done indoor Escape rooms before, but this was really different. I'd really recommend it, and would certainly go on a similar hunt again.
