• Mt. Yufu - Mount Yufu, a 5,195 ft volcano, is situated on the border of Yufu and Beppu. It will be visible on the journey to Yufuin.
• Sagiridai Observatory - Positioned between Yufuin and Beppu along the Yamanami Highway (Prefectural Route 11), this observatory is renowned as one of Kyushu’s most scenic driving spots. This stop provides a stunning view of the Yufuin Basin from 680 meters above sea level.

• Lake Kinrin - A walk to Lake Kinrin is planned. Nestled beneath Mt. Yufu, the lake was historically known as takemoto-no-ike or “lake under the mountain” by locals. It was renamed Kinrin, or “golden scales,” by Mori Kuso, a Confucius scholar, in 1884 after he observed golden-scaled fish in the waters at sunset.
• Umi Jigoku - [Optional] One of Beppu’s renowned “hells,” Umi Jigoku boasts stunning turquoise-blue waters heated to over 90°C (194°F) — too hot to touch but perfect for breathtaking views. Created over 1,200 years ago by volcanic activity, its vibrant color is due to natural minerals.
