Kings Canyon (Watarrka NP) to West MacDonnell Ranges
Kings Canyon - Prepare to experience Kings Canyon (Watarrka) in a whole new way! Early risers will be rewarded with stunning beauty as the sacred grounds of the Ulpanyali and Lilla people are explored. Surrounded by towering 100-meter cliffs and sandstone chasms, the breathtaking backdrops will have you reaching for your camera. Put on sturdy shoes, grab some water, and hit the trails!
After the hike, the journey continues through the rugged Australian outback (conditions permitting), along the scenic Mereenie Loop or Ernest Giles Road. This route offers stunning views of the vast, untamed landscape, further immersing you in the outback’s beauty. Prepare for an evening of stargazing at a cozy private safari camp nestled in the mountains with Mount Sonder as a backdrop.
Tjoritja (West MacDonnell Ranges NP) to Alice Springs
Tjoritja/West MacDonnell National Park - On the final day, start with breakfast while observing native wildlife waking up to greet the day. Marvel at the towering red walls of Ormiston Gorge, showcasing nature’s power and beauty. Then, visit the Ochre Pits, a significant cultural site where the vivid mineral colors of the ochre create a striking landscape, historically used in traditional ceremonies and painting.
Next, cool off with a refreshing swim (or bush shower) in the crystal-clear waters of Ellery Creek Bighole (Udepata), surrounded by towering cliffs and sandy shores that create a postcard-perfect scene.
Explore the captivating Standley Chasm, also known as Angkerle Atwatye (meaning “Gap of Water”), nestled in the heart of the West MacDonnell Ranges. Enjoy the rich cultural history that defines this iconic location.

- 3 days of exploration with knowledgeable local guides in 4WD vehicles
- Camp at exclusive locations in Kings Canyon and West MacDonnell Ranges
- Guided hikes through renowned landscapes, including Watarrka National Park
- All meals provided, with guest involvement in food preparation
- A minimum moderate to advanced level of fitness is required to complete the walks. Therefore a medium/high level of fitness is required and a doctor’s certificate is required for people over 75 years (30 days prior to travel).
- The tour operator must be notified of any known medical conditions at the time of booking. This is a very physical tour and requires a moderate level of fitness and mobility.
- While we endeavour to cater to most dietary needs, passengers must advise dietary requirements to their booking agent at the time of booking. As we are venturing to remote areas we are very limited in what we can source once the tour departs, therefore prior notice is required.
- Children aged between 8 to 17 years old must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian at all times. Not suitable for infants or children 7 years and under, due to safety requirements and the level of fitness required to complete the walk.
- Please advise at time of booking whether you require a hire of a sleeping bag?
- Guests are asked to participate in the preparation of meals, clean up and vehicle unpacking/loading, so everyone can relax together after a long day of touring. It’s also a great way to get to know and connect with your fellow travellers.
