- Zadar Land City Gates - The Land Gate is the most famous of the gates along Zadar’s city walls, once serving as the main entrance. Located by the Foša harbor with scenic water views, it was designed by Venetian architect Michele Sanmicheli in 1543. The gate boasts a grand triumphal arch and two side arches, adorned with images of Zadar’s patron saint, Chrysogonus. The winged lion of St. Mark above the central arch symbolizes Venice’s historical rule over Zadar.
