Plitvice Lakes National Park is a 295-square-kilometer forest reserve located in central Croatia. It is renowned for its series of 16 terraced lakes, connected by waterfalls, which flow into a limestone canyon. Walkways and hiking trails meander around and over the water, and a ferry on Lake Kozjak connects the upper and lower lakes. The lower lakes are home to Veliki Slap, a magnificent 78-meter-high waterfall.
